Scheduled server maintenance and software upgrades will be taking place starting at 1:00 p.m. PST (-0800) Tuesday, November 17, 2009. During this time the SpamCop Reporting Service will not be available for a period of
up to three hours in duration. Visitors will find the site in maintenance mode.

Emailed spam submissions will be accepted, but processing will be delayed until after the maintenance process. There will also most likely be a processing delay for several hours after the service is brought back online to clear the backlog.

The purpose of this maintenance will be to deploy a hot patch, bringing SpamCop to version 4.6.0.030 and fixing some minor bugs in the last deployment.

This will not affect the SpamCop/CESmail email service, newsgroups or forums.

Sorry, I meant to post yesterday, then realized I didn't have the SC

The system is down for approximately four hours beginning at 11:00am PDT
(-0700) for software upgrades. This doesn't affect SpamCop mail
accounts or access. Submissions are accepted, but processing is delayed
until the systems are brought back up. When the systems are back
online, expect a processing delay due to backlog.

I also just got word this maintenance will not fix the 'unreported spam'
bug/issue. That fix is currently in QA and they expect to hot patch on
Monday to fix that and a couple of other issues.

The long awaited new version of SpamCop (v4.6) will being going into
production release Tuesday, August 18, 2009. This means the SpamCop

handling. When the reporting service is brought back up please expect
several hours of delay as the backlog is processed.

This outage does not affect the SpamCop/CESMail email service.

[16:47 EDT] At this time, we don't have any further information about the power situation in our data center. However, all services have been up and running since mid-morning. We apologize about the inconvenience. The power, unfortunately, is handled by our provider and we will be following up with them.
[10:31 EDT] Our datacenter suffered another major power failure this morning. We're bringing everything back online as quickly as we can.

Yes, something has gone wrong in the Mailhosts system.

SpamCop suddently doesn't recognize its own servers.

Not one single thing I can do about it, either. I mean on my own. Engineers have to fix this.

I have feelers out to find out the best way to approach it.

It's beginning to look like there are bugs that need to be worked out. Hard to say for sure.

We're on it and so are the engineers.

We don't know anything yet, but testing proceeds apace.

It looks like manual reporting is back to normal now.

There are still a couple of small issues to be fixed, but all in all, everything is looking good.

[15:40 EST] Our data center had a major power outage on Saturday morning around 8:00 a.m. EST. We were able to resolve most issues by around 12:00 p.m. but some of our equipment was damaged in the power problems. We are working on restoring 100% service today. We will post more information on the forum and update this news with a link to that post. Thanks to Wazoo and Don for working with users and notification during this time.

[04:23 EST] We are aware that there is a problem POPping external servers. We are working on the problem now and expect it to be fixed within the next hour. After that, it may take a couple of hours for it to catch up POPping all of the mail waiting.

* [13:46 EST] Friday night we had a problem with the main database server. We moved to the backup, but this caused sporadic mail outages for about an hour. Today, we discovered that one of the filter machines was still trying to use the old database. This means that mail was queued on this machine. We've fixed this and the backlog is delivering now. Once this mail is delivered, we don't believe that any mail was ever bounced or missing. Thank you for your patience while we fix these issues.
