zaplinski
The solution ist quite simple, I think. The reporting page reads e.g. "whois 61.232.205.187[at]whois.apnic.net" I just tried this at my console: # whois 61.232.205.187[at]whois.apnic.net No whois server is known for this kind of object. But this works: # whois -h whois.apnic.net 61.232.205.187 % [whois.apnic.net node-1] % Whois data copyright terms http://www.apnic.net/db/dbcopyright.html inetnum: 61.232.0.0 - 61.237.255.255 netname: CRTC country: CN descr: CHINA RAILWAY TELECOMMUNICATIONS CENTER admin-c: LQ112-AP tech-c: LM273-AP status: ALLOCATED PORTABLE changed: ipas[at]cnnic.net.cn 20030121 mnt-by: MAINT-CNNIC-AP source: APNIC [...] Olaf
Jeff G.
It's not that simple. The Parser is just displaying pseudo-syntax, not actual syntax.
Wazoo
From: "Ellen" Newsgroups: spamcop.routing Subject: APNIC issues Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 12:26:50 -0400 Organization: SpamCop Lines: 12 Message-ID: <d8kcb0$ldn$1[at]news.spamcop.net> NNTP-Posting-Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 16:30:25 +0000 (UTC) I have opened a ticket on the APNIC issues. Until that is resolved, there is no point in sending any more of these to routing. I am not inclined to manual route the whole of apnic one block at a time :-) Thanks Ellen

mrmaxx
I'm wondering if maybe APNIC is blocking SpamCop or something because I have no such lookup problems from my system at home... Not sure if SC is "overloading" their servers or if they just don't like all the spam complaints going to China.
zaplinski
I'm wondering if maybe APNIC is blocking SpamCop or something 29274[/snapback] APNIC would not do this, but perhaps chinese spam providers' nameservers could be configured in a way that spamcop's DNS lookups permanently fail. So I thought of openig several nameservers (the more, the better) to spamcop so that spamcop could resolve DNS names by using non-spamcop nameservers. And if chinese ISPs would block these, our customers could not resolve the spamvertized websites also. And those chinese ISPs would have shot into their own foot. >:-) Just my 2 cents Olaf
