Team,
The following link, where I report all spam which was previously forwarded by email... Unreported Spam Saved: Report Now ...still is not working for me after about 2-3 days. Is there still something to be fixed? Or am I the only one with this problem. I hope this was the right group to post this in... /Mark |

I have been experiencing unusual lag times between forwarding spam via OE and having access to the, "Report Now", sign. It has been occurring intermittently for a couple of days. The lags average out around 2 hours.
Last week, these cycles completed almost as quickly as I could exit OE and open the SC Reporting Page. I report to: http://www.spamcop.net/ rod To: "SpamCop Reports" <submit.jscxxxxxxxx61xDA[at]spam.spamcop.net> Subject: MISCSPAM Date: Fri, 16 Sep 2005 09:16:28 -0700* *(note: PWT on DST, diff s/b -0800) My "Mail Message/Sent Items" report says the message was sent @09:16 and received @09:16 Notification Rec'd [per Spamcop Auto Responder] Date: Fri, 16 Sep 2005 17:00:21 GMT Message-ID: <spamid806551738[at]msgid.spamcop.net> In-Reply-To: <000e01c5bad9$feb324f0$451ccf18[at]your8136243806> References: <000e01c5bad9$feb324f0$451ccf18[at]your8136243806> X-Rcpt-To: <lou_d_crowse[at]FISHNET.com> Even allowing for the 8* hr. diff., I am left wondering about the apparent 16 min. discrepancy between clocks. Big delays in the confirmation email (continuing). One case which started almost 12 hours ago, I eventually logged in to //members.spamcop.net after receiving the confirmation, there was no "Unreported spam saved, report now" link. Following the links from the email to //www.spamcop.net tracking URL, I was able to cancel them (already pasted in and reported in the meantime).
The main thing is, no report now link to finish reporting from member log-in screen. Second point, the delays in the emailed information reaching the parser. Here is that confirmation email with all the timings in the inwards and outwards headers. Note almost an hour in the handover between vmx1.spamcop.net and sc-app6.soma.ironport.com on the inward journey. I had conjectured that the reason for the lack of a newsgroup / forum post that stated the "system is back n full swing" was probably due to some serious issues in putting the system back together. Don's (much) later post suggests that I was right. Though being far removed from the IronPort offices / systems, looking at http://www.spamcop.net/spamgraph.shtml?spamweek says to me that things are not working all that smoothly. Based on my own past expreiences, it's pretty easy for me to make some guesses as to what occured, probably what's going on now, but .... not really my place / job /etc.
However, based on all the traffic ... I'll post some comments, though repeating, simply extrapolating from past experience (elsewhere) and what I see ... My best guess right now is that a server bit the dust, jacking up one of the 'main' databases. Hardware was swapped, backup (files, software, hardware) stuff was jacked in, but versions / dates of 'everything' didn't match up. Someone made the decision to try to "work some magic" without taking it all off-line. Those folks are still trying to get everything back into sync but still allowing the system to run live. Looking at the graph, I'd go with a server being taken off-line, reloaded with whatever has been decided is 'golden' and then brought back on-line .. then moving on to the next server. Knowing nothing about the actual details of the last major hardware replacement/upgrade, no idea how many systems are actually involved .. know even less about the possibility that whatever is now 'golden' may not actually be what once was 'golden' .. just more conjecturing that it might be a while before things actually get back to normal. Not an answer, absolutely nothing official here, but not anticipating that there's going to be any other kind of an answer provided until someone from Ironport notifies one of the Deputies that "it's fixed" ...??? Best I can do ... |

I report via messages forwarded from OE to my submit address, and the direct link goes fine, but when I hit the "Report Now" button, it tries to go to the next scree, (http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z##################################) and it eventually times out, giving me the following error:
"Gateway Timeout The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server. Reference #1.8504a1cd.1126935709.194dbc25" This has been happening for the past 3 or so days.... |

Submission by email is (now) just slightly sluggish (4¼ minute round trip) and my Unreported Spam Saved: Report Now link is back and functioning through my //members.spamcop.net log-in page.
[Added] As at the edit date-time email turnaround down to 35 secs, as good as it ever gets for me. Back to normal for all intents & purposes? This post has been edited by Farelf: Sep 17 2005, 12:49 PM -------------------- Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose
