I have a new telephone. An LG Rumor, also known as a 260. I would like to get my Spamcop email on this phone. I can log in with the wireless web support, but it is extremely clumsy. I see that there is direct support on the phone for Google Mail and Yahoo Mail. Can I get a similar level of integration with my Spamcop email? Or at least something usable.

Sub questions: 0) Can I get a clean integration of Spamcop on this phone?1) Is there a "mobile" interface to the webmail system? 2) Anyone know a way get the "Polaris" browser to keep my password? It is extremely clumsy to enter a longish secure password into the phone.

Does the Rumor support POP or IMAP? That would be another possiblity. I use IMAP with my Treo and send via SMTP.

Steven suggests the POP/IMAP/SMTP route and I would agree that this is the better option.

But there is a mobile web interface for Spamcop Email at http://mobile.spamcop.net Being a mobile interface it is more limited than the full webmail interface but may do what you require.

The http://mobile.webmail.com URL allows me to log in, but I only get a white page (582 bytes of blankness) (I have reported this).

According to a couple of online reviews, the LG LX260 does have both IMAP and POP3 support, but I have yet to figure out how to set that up.

https://mobile.spamcop.net works from my Treo with the caveat that the cert does not exist.

Using http://mobile.spamcop.net tells me "You're speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port..."

The cert, btw, is for webmail.spamcop.net.

Ah. The missing "s" could be the problem.

I will try that when I get off the phone with my phone service provider, who is trying to figure out how to enter the imap information so I can use the email client on the phone. I know that there is one, a number of people reference in reviews. I just cannot figure out how to set it up.

Nope. Adding the "s" just gets me to a secure version of the blank white page. Different size, 513 bytes.

Can't help with that at all, other than yor reference to "preset links to Google and Yahoo" are probably also web-based actions, rather than IMAP or POP.

I've pulld PDFs from two different cellphone companies on the LG260 ... one didn't mention e-mail capability at all, the other only said to "contect your service provider" .....

Yeah, the "contact your service provider" is what I am getting too. But I point out to my phone provider that I have all the server information (imap.spamcop.net port 143) and just need to know where to put it, I also point out that if one googles "lg rumor imap", one will get links to a number of reviews that list imap/pop3 support as being available in the phone. They have wandered off to check on this stuff. we will see what they come up with.

I would hate to have to set up a gmail account just so I could read email on my phone.

Checking some traffic, I see that hitting that web-page results in 'setting a cookie' with a redirection to a URL that oncludes the $SESSION-ID cookie just 'set' ..... I'd have to guess that the blank screen you see comes from either your browser not following the redirect or an issue with the handling of cookies ...????
