I try to fully report email where I can; I want the owners of the websites being promoted to also get the reports (which I gather the 'quick report' doesn't do).

This would halve the amount of clicks, and make it much quicker to properly carry out full reporting.

If you use OE to do the submittals, this is easy ... others have suggested that you include multiple spams in one submittal (50K limit per spam, 100K limit on entire submittal) ... there are some suggestions by others using Outlook, etc ... found over in the newsgroups and the E-Mail Forum here (which is where I'm moving this Topic posting)

I'm using http://www.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog to select mails to report.

I don't use either Outlook nor OE, and don't understand the relevance.

Relevence was my focusing in on the words in your posting. Only after reading your last did I move back and then notice your Topic Title ... Apologies ... and now leaving so that someone who does use the web-mail side of the house might give you a more appropriate response.

Good news: This request has come up several times before - so it seems to be a popular idea.

Bad news: It hasn't been implemented, yet. Nor, to my knowledge, has it ever been acknowledged by the powers-that-be.

How's this? Not touching the e-mail side of the house issues, just from a programming point of view ... you click on "submit this spam" ... a "process/thread" is started on one of the parsing systems to run that spam through .. you hit the next "submit this spam" button ... yet another "process/thread" is started to run that spam though ... there is no reall connection between your fist submittal and your second submittal .. and even noting that there were 3,000 other spam submittals made by other users in that bit of time between your first and second "submit" clicks. The "parsing" system cars not "who" did the submittal, it just does its tasking of doing a parse ...

not that this helps solve your request, but hoping that this explanation might help with the understanding of that its probably just not a simple "add a line to the code right here" and issue is resolved.

On the other hand, the thoughts on combining submittals in one e-mail offered earlier aa compared to other notes I recall seeing about handling contents of the Heldmail folder and such ... have you tried selecting multiple spams prior to hitting the "submit" button and does that make a difference?

With respect, Wazoo, you seem to have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about - on this thread or others. You seemingly have no programming background. You're obviously trying to be helpful, but you're coming across as being rather ignorant. Sorry.

In terms of the non-acknowledgement of this request, perhaps the best thing for SpamCop.net would be a Bugzilla installation, so that requests for enhancement, and bugs, can be correctly categorized.

Well, this isn't the place to toss up a resume, but trust me, my "programming" stuff goes back to the days of flipping switches on front panels to enter in the code, as the maintenance guy stuck with keeping things running and as "computers are electronic, aren't they" were the orders of the day, I've had a lot of on-the-job training on everything from the little things you can carry around to those with disk packs that weighed in at over 100 pounds, magnetic tape reels, and do I dare say it, boxes and boxes of Hollerith cards. You want to talk Fortran, COBOL, dBase, CP/M, on and on ... DEC, DG, ROLM, IBM, Sun, Kaypro, Apple II, Commodore 64, Amiga, Zeus ... and others that I'm too old to remember ... been there, did that, learned enough of the intricacies of each to be able to determine whether it was a hardware or software issue. None of this has much to do with the specific internals of Julian's creation, but I haven't tried to go there either. Process threading isn't necessarily a "programming" thing, more to do with how the hardware works under the operating system, and most of this is a known issue for the reporting side of SpamCop. ... but, as stated many times elsewhere, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

That my efforts haven't solved your issue and hasn't been seen as appreciated .. no problem .. just have to point out that for whatever reason, It appears that I'm the only one that's tried (in this Topic anyway). Apologies again for wasting your time.


As there's only one guy doing all the code, and taking the time to keep the world aprised of where he's headed, what's been changed and why, and what's going on with porblem issues isn't one of his best qualities, not sure what doing up another list would do. Things have been requested over the years, some items get picked up, others seemingly ignored, but that's the name of Julian's game. His priorities are whatever he's determined them to be.
