Not sure what to do ... emailed customer support but haven't gotten any response ... meanwhile getting FLOODED with spam that should be in Held Mail. Haven't changed any settings anywhere but all of a sudden NO spam is being filtered.

What should I do?

THEN PUSH THE BLUE SUBMIT BUTTON once/after you have checked all the boxes (under check boxes) for it to be activated

You also need to setup MailHosts by clicking MailHost Tab This link allows you to log on to your Very Easy Reporting (VER) WebPage.

If you can set up your email client for IMAP (do NOT set it for "auto polling" (no need for this unless you wish it) you can drag friends email to your held folder then use VER WebPage and select scroll to FORWARD (and WhiteList Sender) will have all your known email on your WhiteList making sure they are never blocked

I only have six entries on my white list, for people I know...

I appreciate your help. Wish I could figure this out as it's a mystery. I didn't change anything with SpamCop but now it's all spam, all the time.

Jennifer, I have the same problem despite selecting all blocks, seems spammers are working hard at avoiding being listed or detected by spam assassin...

I just drag and drop the unfiltered spam in a heldmail folder I set up in OE...I am however surprised the 200-500 spams or so I report everyday never make it on the spamcop list, this is a new trend.. Most of them are illegal meds, viagra and the like

But I went from EVERYTHING being filtered to NOTHING being filtered.

All in ONE DAY.

I don't want to have to drag and drop, etc. otherwise what's the point of paying for SpamCop?

There's something else going on here...

I might just have to cancel this service and find a new one unless I can get some customer support!

Thanks, but what is a tracking URL? I have the messages in my Mac Mail junk folder...they are coming into my email rather than sitting in Held Mail.

If you have IMAP setup, you can transfer them to the held mail folder then report them as usual. You can probably also report them directly from Mac Mail by forwarding (as attachment) to your submit address.

If you are not reporting your spammers, it is slightly less likely they will be caught in the filters.

Actually, I've just tried forwarding them to SpamCop reporting this morning using the forwarding address listed on the SpamCop web site, but they all bounce back saying invalid address.

In any case, it's really unlikely that all of a sudden the spammers have gotten smart overnight and I'm now receiving 200 emails daily when previously I was getting none.

Was this a submit.<16 character secret code>@submit.spamcop.net address for your logged in spamcop reporting page? Did you "forward as attachment" which is needed to send the headers as well?

Do you have spamcop forward messages to a "secret" address? Can you turn that off for the time being and view your messages in spamcop's webmail application? You could then easily report them from there and provide a Tracking URL. Perhaps, the spammers have found your secret address and are bypassing spamcop all together?

Without seeing the headers of the messages making it through to your inbox (and tracking URL is most convienient way to see those in this application), I can not help to explain why they are getting there, or see if it is a problem with spamcop, your account, or something else.

When you use VER to Queue for reporting You then click the Report Spam TAB which will provide a "LINK" to "Report Now" on that web page, once clicked a tracking URL is shown on top of page showing "parsed" spam (example)

If you do not use VER to report spam it may be possible that a spammers IP will not get blocked?

Forwarding from Apple's Mail program doesn't fly .... my iBook is still down, no response to numerous queries for help in dozens of places, on an on .... I did do up a "How to ...." way back when ....

You've not actually answered StevenUnderwood's question as to just what address you are referring to, and I'm a bit in the dark as to just what exactly your "error message" might actually mean (do I take your words literally or is there some variation between the actual error and the way you described it?)

Every email I tried bounced back saying invalid address.

In any case, my original question was not really about how to report spam - I've done that for every spam I ever received in Held Mail when my spam was, in fact, being held - it was, rather, as to why all of a sudden NONE of the spam is getting blocked.

As I mentioned before, it seems unlikely that the spammers have all gotten wise overnight and figured out how to bypass every filter so I now get close to 200 spams where as a day and a half ago, I received none.

It's still a mystery.

And I don't know what you mean about a "secret address." (??) I forward all mail to spamcop.net then retrieve it through POP mail to my Mac Mail.

Okay, let me stop my POP mail checking and I'll try this. That makes sense now, calling it a tracking URL, if I'm looking at things through SpamCop Web Mail (which I wasn't before).

Yet another try .. a Tracking URL doesn't have anything to do with your e-mail ... it actually is a bit of data about a spam submittal / parse result. Please see Tracking URL

Yes, the term "tracking URL" does indeed have something to do with my email in this context. If you view an email from within the web site, there is a URL available. If you view an email from within Mac Mail, there is no available URL to reference.

Again, will post a tracking URL the next time a Spam comes into the Web mail. I've disabled Pop mail checking for the time being.

Terminology is critical in trying to "help" .... There is a definition "here" for the term Tracking URL .... links have been provided ... Trying to confuse the issue by using wrong terms to try to describe something else will only continue to confuse things. That you made no response about my PM has me wondering if this is something else that has not been looked at?

When viewing "e-mail from the web-site" .. the URL you see is a link to a "new" web-page that will display that e-mail. You won't see that on your Mac, as you're using your Mail application to read those e-mails .... though one could technically say that "in the background" there are similar actions going on (clicking on an e-mail Subject line causes some other software to kick in and render up a "new screen display") but that's far afield from your query/discussion here.

Just looked at my private email. W - so sorry I'm not operating on your time line - and FYI, just because I read it (moments ago) and honestly don't feel comfortable giving my log-in information to someone I don't know is no reason to get pedantic and condescending. BTW, I never did get any customer support help from SpamCop directly.

Someone else helped me offline, and the problem is fixed. I ended up resetting everything - in my mail settings, in Spam Cop settings, etc. and whatever was there is now gone.

Thanks very much to those in this thread who helped me out. I really appreciate your patience. I'm no novice to the online world (although some here might believe otherwise) but this was a stumper.

Huh? I offered the link to the FAQ that lists/identifies folks here, just for that reason. Your big words confound me, I thought you were asking for help, wasn't getting it from the "official" channels, I made an offer. Whether you accepted or nor makes no difference to me, I was just comparing that lack of any response to the scenario of you apparently not following provided links to correct your use of "Tracking URL" in this dialog. Again, the thought was to "help us help you" and correct the terminology issue as a start.
