Full Version: Phantom message in held mail? SpamCop losing mail?
SpamCop Discussion > Discussions & Observations > SpamCop Email System & Accounts

Sometimes when I bring up my "held mail" list, there are entries like these:

Check All Reset
[2844] ( Preview )
()
[2845] ( Preview )
()

If I click on "Preview", I get only:

============================================================================
==
Previewing raw email. Use your browser's back button to return to menu.
============================================================================
==
error:Cannot find 2844

To make matters worse, I suspect that I am not receiving all mail that was
sent to me. False alarm? Problem with my account?

Thanks
Ellen
I did ask Julian about that and got a response and then failed to be able to figure out where the question had been asked so I could respond -- my apologies. This is what he said:

Sounds like he has a conflict between his imap software and spamcop. Like
both are fetching mail at the same time, and his software gets there
before spamcop can.

I've been having the same problem. I use Outlook Express, on several PCs, and use IMAP to access my sc email. I usually open OE, check my e-mail, see "Held Mail (40)" or somesuch, and open up IE to the VER page
(http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld).
Does having both the email client, and the webpage, accessing the same IMAP folders cause this problem? So the solution is to close the e-mail client while reporting held e-mail?

I'm not using IMAP; when this started happening I was forwarding to my 'secret' ISP-given e-mail address and, since then, I've changed to polling using POP3.

Further information:

I tagged one of these babies (which SpamCop told me it couldn't find) for release and POPped it; here is the entire source of the message I received:

Perhaps this was created by a prematurely aborted SMTP session?
