I have just sent out a few emails to my customers manually and about 5 of them have come back with the follwing message
Client host [193.252.22.157] blocked using bl.spamcop.net; Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?193.252.22.157 - see http://bl.spamcop.net (in reply to RCPT TO command)>

I am not an IT whizz and haven't a clue ehat this means and why i am getting it. i have tried to work through the website but am none the wiser. Can someone explain what is happening in laymans terms and tell me what I need to do to solve it? I use Microsoft Small business SErver 2003 if that helps.
Regards
Angela

You are sending out your mail through a wanadoo mail server. Wanadoo are notorious for not controlling spam from their servers. For this reason some recipients block all mail from them. Your quickest (and most permanent) solution is to change to a less spam-friendly, less clueless provider. You are very probably what is known as an 'innocent bystander'. It's all in the FAQs here, including a 'noddy guide'.

FWIW UK members here have recently recommended Claranet and Plusnet.

Do you have exchange configured to forward all mail through your providers smarthost, or are you sending direct to MX?

If the former, then you are going to have trouble as most of wanadoo's servers are on and off BLs on a regular basis for the reasons mentioned above.

If you are sending direct to MX, then the problem is most likely in configuration of your server. If one of the paid reporters would be so kind as to hit me with a report history (just not very hard, its still early) I would be happy to help you troubleshoot this issue as I run an Exchange 2003 server myself and have no BL problems.
