Full Version: Disable "Quick Report" Option
SpamCop Discussion > Discussions & Observations > New Feature Request

I have decided that I will not use the "Quick" report feature.
So, the only way I well send a Quick report is by accidentally
clicking on the wrong button. I'd liek to have the option
of disabling the Quick report feature.

When the "quick" report feature was first introduced, a
user had to ask to have it enabled. Is it automatically
enabled for all (including new) users now?

Are you an email customer? Are you trying to get an option to disable quick reporting from webmail? Or from the VER interface? Or the email submission?

Oh, sorry, I should have been more specific.

I actually have two accounts, a pre-paid reporting account and a separate
webmail account but seldom use the reporting-only account any more.

I would like to disable all of the quick report options from the webmail
interface, including the pages that one uses to report spam which
apparently are the "VER".

I asked a deputy about this some time ago and was told it was
not possible. However, since he also said that quick reporting was
the only way to report spam, and there was no point to having
a SpamCop webmail account without the quick reporting option
I tend to think he may not have been correct.

Quick reporting is the only way to report directly from within the webmail application (The "Report as Spam" link). It used to be that when you hit that link, you were doing the same as emailing the messages to the quick reporting email address for your account and that you woul need to get your account approved to actually use quick reporting. Until I authorized my account, I always got back a message stating quick reporting was not authorized and that the message was waiting to be processed for full reporting.

That seems to have changed at some point because new email users seem to be able to quick report immediately and a recent post from SpamCopAdmin seems to indicate they operate differently now. I doubt they can be turned off. It is worth asking again.

Thanks. I did ask, and the answer is still no.

Evidently "Quick Reporting" is now a standard part of the webmail interface.

IMHO, a bad idea, As I would expect a LOT of new users will use it without
setting up their mailhosts. Even when those are set up, their ISP may
reconfigure invalidating the established mailhosts list.

But, it's not my call.

Thanks.

Quick Reporting is disabled while you are updating Mail Hosting.

A explicit confirmation is needed to enable it after you have tested that ordinary reporting is working.

So click Mail Hosting and exit and never give that confirmation and you will get what you wish.

Just going into the mailhost configuration page is not enough. You would need to send a probe to one of your addresses.

However, I don't know if I can support this work around. You may be causing yourself or spamcop more problems. I would check with a deputy first.
