When my Inbox opens, there's a number just to the right of the word, Inbox.
The number is in parentheses, and its value is almost always less than the
count of email messages at the top right. In Held mail, the left hand count
matches the right hand count.

Might the disparity be due to a number of messages getting transferred to
Held mail upon opening the Inbox ?

The number on the left is the number of unread messages in the folder. The number on the right is the messages in the current view out of the total number.

I only show 10 per page because they will all fit on one screen with preview on. My second page shows

Inbox (1) - Page 2 of 2 - 11 to 12 of 12 Messages

and there is only one unread message in the folder.

Also, the only reason messages would be transferred to the Held Mail folder on login is if you are using client side filtering. The BL and SA scanning is done on the server level and the message never gets to your Inbox.

I didn't see this as fallout of the Beta / new / cirrent WebMail application, rather just a general interface question .... so posts were split out from the Beta Issues Topic and made stand-alone as a 'new' Topic.
