Should I bother clicking repeated e-mail addresses for multiple spams?
michaelanglo replied to lpickup's topic in SpamCop Reporting
Any ISP handling spam reports seriously will have a 'deduplicate' routine which perhaps will only give the original source and the numbers involved plus possibly the spam software used and whether it's instrumented with web bugs and coded destinations. -
I got a "you have joined Craiglist" spam Here is your TRACKING URL - it may be saved for future reference: https://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z6056732217z1ad4c55ced92f3d3ceccf60d17c6389az What was the point ? And where is everyone ?

Fastmail.fm and other notes about Replacement Providers
michaelanglo replied to michaelanglo's topic in SpamCop Email System & Accounts
To carry on with the Fastmail replacement for the Spamcop mail personal blacklist It seems you need two lines Message From ends with '.br' Message From ends with '.br>' To allow for a From field --- Make Money < money[at]example.br > (additional space for display here) A test area is provided to try out the generated scri_pt. -
Fastmail.fm and other notes about Replacement Providers
michaelanglo posted a topic in SpamCop Email System & Accounts
Notes about Fastmail.fm and other items related to replacement providers. I have had two false drops so have added their From: addresses to the address book. I also added a pseudo blacklist for any sender ending .br - move to junkmail/ spam I have just had my first couple of Spams which of course meant that I had to fix my mailhosts before I could report them. I therefore deleted host spamcop.net for now and added me[at]fastmail.fm which seems to have worked fine. -
You mean you don't cook with bottled water ? I am reminded of a Isaac Asimov where a health geek dies who used nothing but his special water. It seems perfectly pure but has an elevated boiling point.

Dried beans should be soaked overnight and for safety boiled briskly for 10 minutes. I would like a reference for how much water for baked pasta since I never seem to get it quite right. Happy New Year !

Thanks for getting the board to remember me across sessions.

The old Forum (before 30th September) used to remember me so I had to log in maybe once a year plus when they reset everything. The new reinstalled forum didn't do this until about a day before my post. I haven't changed anything.

[Resolved] Not getting auto-responses!
michaelanglo replied to jasmith4's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
If you use the direct, paste it in, web page you get a note when the spam exceeds 50 000 bytes and IIRC offers 'truncate or cancel'. I have used this feature with a > 1 MB spam and it works fine. -
Fastmail.fm and other notes about Replacement Providers
michaelanglo replied to michaelanglo's topic in SpamCop Email System & Accounts
As to the Fastmail blacklist replacement I can now confirm that the following works Settings/ Rules/ File into folders Message with From: ends with: '.br' File into Junk Mail Or at least a message with spam index only 4.8 went there. -
Is Spamcop reporting doing any good anymore?
michaelanglo replied to Windrider6's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
Since this is "straight up" spam you can just use the 'blocked sender' feature or whatever your mail client calls it. (Personal blacklist in the former Spamcop email system). It will then cease to clutter your inbox and you can report it as you wish. -
[Resolved] Getting a permanent "500 Internal Server Error"
michaelanglo replied to kluless's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
However the reporting page still has a link to Email-account News (which doesn't work of course) -

"New Registration at SpamCop Discussion"
michaelanglo replied to aMusaic's topic in SpamCop Email System & Accounts
Is this likely to affect the use of cesmail.net and cqmail.net legacy email addresses ? Spamcop.net still exists of course. -
Past Reports tab not working past 2 days
michaelanglo replied to fbernard's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
That's inevitable. -
so, what, exactly, is happening to my spamcop.net address?
michaelanglo replied to salamandir's topic in SpamCop Email System & Accounts
That /is/ using a Spamcop email address (for the forward) but since that's the only use you can change to forwarding direct to -a-secret-email-account with no problem. -
Please quote the bounce/reject message. My forwarding is working fine.

You can set up IF so-and-so move to spam if you like which should work for the simple personal blacklist https://www.fastmail.fm/help/receive/rules.html ()Under organise).

As noted Fasmail.fm has this use of IMAP as a standard feature

From comments in other threads, no. http://.spamcop.net will continue but all mailsc stuff will vanish. http://mail.spamcop.net/news.php Sep 27, 2014 [10:49 EDT] As was previously communicated, beginning September 30, SpamCop Email will no longer store email for you. If [...] The held folder would be "storing mail for you"

Nextbuses.mobi http://traveline.info and so forth get (!) You have reached a domain that is pending ICANN verification. As of January 1, 2014 the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will mandate that all ICANN accredited registrars begin verifying the Registrant WHOIS contact information for all new domain registrations and Registrant contact modifications. Why this domain has been suspended Email address has not been verified. This is a new domain registration and the Registrant email address has not been verified. or The Registrant contact data for this domain was modified but still requires verification. Specifically the First Name, Last Name and/or email address have been changed and never verified. == All hail anti spam ?

Just a thank you for the comments in this thread. I chose Fastmail.fm and things only took an hour or two except the migrate from the old system's folders which turned out to contain 2.5 GB and took hours. I now need to see what I don't need before I have to pay for that 2.5 GB plus work out replacements for the things Fastmail can't quite do. Anyone got a useful set of regular expressions ? Like "sender's email ends .[a-z][a-z] but not .uk"?
-
Ain't necessarily so. At least one type of spammer sends from two (or more) different places in the same hour, I think in the hope of avoiding block lists like Spamcop's that use the sending server's IP address.

(Bounced)Reported emails shown as coming from me... why?
michaelanglo replied to whitewolf's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
Not quite true hence the phase "straight up spam". I recall spam from 'Christian publishers' and a Brazilian senate candidate. Maybe five in a thousand I added these to my personal blacklist as with those which are often forged. -
You can sue in small claims but they may not have the money. In _England Their England_ (recommended) there was a quote "A subscription signifies that the magazine will be sent to the subscriber until one of the three expires"
