  1. >- Your Mailhost settings won't allow you to report yourself or your ISP >- Gmail spam from your Gmail account, for instance, SpamCop will not report because it is from a mailserver (IP) you have registered as a possible host Neither of those statements are true. Mailhosts only tell SpamCop which ISPs belong to you so that outside ISPs can more easily be identified. If the spam originated from your ISP, SpamCop will let you report it. spam from one Gmail user to another Gmail user never went out on the Internet, which means that there are only internal IPs in the headers, such as 10.66.155.2 - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - SpamCop[at]Spro.net -

    Email bounces

All you need to do is log in and resolve the bounce issue. Everything will go back to normal. SpamCop only tries to deliver mail once, and then gives up. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -

  5. Redirecting won't work. Use "forward" or "forward as attachment." SpamCop will look for the spam that is inside your email to your "submit" address. Or SpamCop will look for a spam that is attached to your email. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -

  7. >- seeing an option in my reports to send to abuse[at]att.net. You need to get into your "Preferences" and permanently remove abuse[at]att.net. >- sounds like something configuring my mailhost may resolve This has nothing to do with Mailhosts. >- happens ONLY when I bounce spam emails You should NEVER bounce spam. The "From" address on spam is always either fake or forged. The bounce only goes to an innocent bystander who didn't send you any email. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -
  8. http://mailsc.spamcop.net/ces/account_new.shtml Mailsc doesn't belong to the Email Service. It belongs to the reporting service. We'll be taking it down soon. More Ripe access denied

Very strange. SpamCop isn't supposed to be querying RIPE. We cache their data. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -

    hetzner.de getting away with it?

Devnull reports are putting Hetzner's servers on our blocking list. That's the best we can do. They don't take action on our reports.

    Obfuscating my e-mail address

SpamCop totally ignores the email addresses in spam. If you will send me the TRACKING URL from the top of the SpamCop parse page when this happens, I will be happy to look into it for you. Also, please send me a complete copy (full headers and text) of the email you're getting from the ISPs. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -
  12. >- I don't plan on taking ces up on the offer to do filter-and-forward. >- I'll just report by emailing in to the submit email address. SpamCop sends responses to your email submissions. You have to set up forwarding so you can get the responses, Otherwise, our email will bounce, which will suspend your reporting privileges. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -

We know for a fact that our trap servers accurately record the sending IP when they get email. A spamtrap is an unused address whose sole reason for existence is to see if people will send unsolicited mail to it. Spamtraps are basically the nonexistent addresses at small vanity domains owned by us or our associates. Mail to nonexistent addresses is proof-positive that email addresses are being added to a mailing list without the address owner's permission. Reports from users are being sent to abuse[at]cybercity.dk - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -

    SpamCop Email Service Changes

    >- Will there still be a "held email" at SpamCop I don't think so. Not sure. Once this settles out, it looks to me like the Email Service will end up being an email forwarding and spam filtering service. Hard to say. Too many details still to be worked out. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -
