    More Google redirection

I find it interesting that spammer links, instead of being googlesearch or googlepages type links, have now become started coming as addresses I've never/would never associate with google. Since SC doesn't report to google these spams, I do it for SC! I use both abuse AT google.com and this google link Here are some of the odd addresses coming in lately that all go directly to google. h ttp://timeoffrequests.com/ ht tp://gmodules.com ht tp://googlr.com/ All of these links have longer addresses like "search?hl=en&q=inurl:Enlargeupto4&btnI=" added to them Moderator Edit: Based on post content, description, it seemed obvious that the links should not be left live ...especially when further described as being incomplete examples anyway ... URLs broken.

That's a good link that I've been looking for! Have you found one to report spam with the google search links in them such as <http://www.google.off.ai/searchblahblahblah_dont_click>?? Eric

    Media Cool 2.0

I just reported one as well. Google via SC doesn't seem to want reports about these spams w/google links in them but I'm sick of spammers taling advantage of these google links and I report them myself to abuseATgoogle. I say it's time they do more than just say "Don't be evil" and actually PREVENT some evil in in the form of spammers trying to rip people off using their system. If they don't like me FWD'ing spam that exploits their site, then they can block my email for all I care. I'm getting a lot of google links in my spam lately and it's time they did something about it.

    URL Parsing

That's kind of what I figured was happening, the speed at which things are done by SC parser will at times miss the URL's and that function has a lower priority in any case. It sounds like the adding of an extra load via my above method may not be a really good thing for the overall "health" of the reporting system. Getting the ISP added to my report and SC doing whatever it does from there is what actually happens as I'm not personally contacting any ISP....unless the report that SC sends to the ISP is the "lost cause" you are refering to. My hope was that any added attention a given spammy site gets will hasten it's (hopefully very painful ) demise. Given the volume SC has to deal with and that I already use knujon in tandem w/SC with every spam I submit, perhaps it's not a good thing for everyone to start using this method? If we go by my stats at knujon, Sites reported by you: 2268 Pending Suspensions: 201 Completed Suspensions: 161 then I can see what you mean by "lost cause" as less than 1% of sites reported have been suspended. (not to mention all the other people reporting the same dang sites)

    Numerous SC parsing issues

killspammers is a cool screen name! wish i'd thought of it
  9. Thanks Waz. I take from that post that I can delete my addy from the body and paste everything into the parser. Unless you post otherwise that's what I'll do from now on if time permits.
  10. Since my exact address is in the body of some spams, "Dear eman <AT> ameritech.net.." should I send the report anyway even though that address will be seen by possible evil-doers? Thanks
  11. Lately I've been getting spams that have the site address in an image or they type it so it can't be read by Spamcop or Knujon. Something like "chinesewebsite . com". So my question is is it legal/ethical whatever to make that address readable to spamcop and knujon? It's a lot of work to make the 1st FWD to spamcop and then take the html and headers from that report, cancel it, and paste into the original spam, then add the web address the spammer is asking one to type in themselves. A lot of work.... but I hate them especially when they try to avoid being reported. Some days I have time on my hands to do this. anywho, is this allowed? thanks

    Missing submit messages

I'm glad I found this post as it sounds similar to issues I have been having. I have been assuming that my spam fwd'ed from Yahoo over the last month or so were being waylayed for 45 mins. to 8+hours because of a Yahoo issue. Tonight I got a yahoo mailer daemon email of a spamcop FWD that may shed light for those who can interpret the header. I did notice a "420" designation for the error....hehee that might explain a lot! hehe I submit spam from my free yahoo account as an attachment as I always do. ALSO, I complained to Yahoo tonight about long send times. The reply that came back said they hoped to have this fixed by Nov. 23! So that "confirms" a yahoo problem (?), YET, my paid yahoo account through AT&T has no such slow down or issues getting spam to spamcop. That should muddy the water a bit. Anyway, below is the yahoo mailer daemon text and email header that will hopefully help. This is from my free yahoo account. If I can supply any other info let me know. Yes, when I send email from my free yahoo account to another address (typing the time sent in the subject) there was one w/a 45 minute delay and there's another test email sent at 8:49 tonight and it's now 12:34am and still a no-show! To confuse this issue, which seems to come and go, I just now sent a test email and badabing it came thru right away. Eric -------- Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. the new hotmail

I just did a search for Hotmail in the forums because of problems I've been having and found this thread. New Hotmail is already acting up using Safari so I have been a little annoyed at it. I had previously turned the spam blocking feature to minimum (or whatever they call it) since list responses I wanted to receive never showed up. Some sites now aren't even allowing Hotmail addresses to sign up. Now, the feature that allowed me to view the email source of spam and thereby report it, is gone so I am now migrating whatever list emails I get at that addy to another NON-hotmail address. This thread helped me come to this decision that hotmail is no dang good and I'll be better off when I have migrated from it. I'll still use the addy for MSN messenger but that's it. You'll be better off with a different email site.

    "No Reports Filed"?

I will give that a whack.
  16. I reported a bunch of spam today fwd'ing as I usually do from my different email acct's. I noticed when I signed into Spamcop though, that very few "showed up" as it were, and there wasn't much to report. When I went to my Previous Reports section and clicked on View Recent Reports, there were 20 that only said "No Reports Filed"! Does that mean all the work I did to fwd that garbage is lost? "No Reports Filed"?

I've just gone ahead and sent in the balance of spams that I FWD'ed to spamcop late last night and were queued up ready to be filed. It's kinda bassackwards to have the date the system received the spam vs when it was reported (i.e. when I hit "Report Now") especially when trying to figure out which spams didn't make it. Oh well they are only some among billions per day I guess and hopefully they at least made it through to Knujon. But I digress. Don you were correct and as I reported these spams, the No Reports Filed shortened till it was gone except for a couple that had become too old. Although it's obviously a little misleading to see No Reports Filed when in the midst of reporting, causing one to think that they've just wasted a bunch of time and effort, please view this as a SUPER EMBARASSED emoticon. -------> I'd delete my first post on the 26th if I could! e

    "No Reports Filed"?

HI Miss Betsy, Yes I was the original author of this thread so that's what I mean by "happened again". Maybe a brand new post was in order but I figured I should keep the subject in the same thread. I can't remember now if, when I FWD'ed the spam last time this happened, if they ever showed up to be reported on my spamcop page. I presently have spam waiting to be reported but I am hesitant to do so until I know my efforts won't be in vain. Last night's past reports are still showing the same status. I blocked the spamcop email addy since I don't need notification that spams are ready to be reported so I don't get an up-to-the-minute status of progress. I just went ahead and reported a spam in my queue as a test, noting the subject ("What is generic stands for") so we'll see what happens to that one. Eric As of this morning 10

    "No Reports Filed"?

OK I can't believe this has just happened again! Just by chance I happened to go to my past reports tonight in the midst of a spam reporting binge to find I've been wasting the past hour reporting spam to SPAMCOP and all these reports are down the frakkin toilet! I am going to wait a day before completing the rest of my reports because what would be the point????? I FWD'ed the spam and when done, I came to my SPAMCOP page and began reporting and everything seemed to be proceeding, as far as I could tell, completely normally! I even, after the fact, looked at the SPAMCOP Server Status and I can't see didley squat that tells me anything is or was wrong. Can't there be some way to just have a page come up in this instance and say, "Sorry we can't file your reports now" as we get during other outages or maintenence???? Wouldn't this be better than screwing the people trying to help here????? To do all this work of FWD'ing and finishing the reporting just to find it was ALL FOR NOTHING is totally LAME, extremely aggravating and works against what SPAMCOP and it's members are trying to achieve. Look at all this wasted time and effort below!!!! This is ridiculous. How in the h_ll is one to know when to NOT fwd spam or go through the reporting process if no one tells us?? 21. I noticed a few weeks ago a new domain that spam was originating from as well as hosting the sites advertized. Now they seem to really have the ball rolling there in terms of volume and wondering how such a site/isp/server (whatever the h_ll they are) can operate with seeming impunity? Also what constitutes a "spam haven"? When you look at their site does it look like this? At least they haven't gotten to any of my other addresses....yet. It seems to me that colocentral.com IS a spam haven as they seem to have no other uses or function judging by their site. Also, if you leave out the www in their address, it goes right to colocentral squirrel mail login! Is colocentral.com a Spam Haven?

    Is colocentral.com a Spam Haven?

All my spam that I report is sent simultaniously to spamcop, knujon and spam[at]uce.gov so hopefully that covers all the bases, but yes, maybe adding FTC to my list would be good too, or maybe I have to do an individual mailing kinda thing. That would end up being too much work. I would FWD my spam to yahoo (from both my free and ATT accounts) but those dingleberries only accept spam submitted as text so again, it becomes too much work to fwd each spam in 2 different formats just to accommodate them. One of the reasons I posted here is so that the words spam, spamhaven and colocentral.com are forever linked and therefore searchable and the more people that know, the better. I suppose it is pointless, them being off shore from US, associating powercomm.com, kisa.or.kr, hanaro.com, cnc-noc.net, fibertel.com.ar, reduno.com.mx, telecomitalia.it, telesp.net.br, et al, with the tons of spam that come from their networks but it's good to point it out anyway.

    Is colocentral.com a Spam Haven?

That's interesting because via my own searches I haven't found anything about them except the usual mentions about their data services or voip and one mention regarding spam here, and also here. The last site getting very specific about them which I hadn't seen before. It's interesting to me that they can sleaze by with hardly any mention via the web or at least from my googling. I continue to do my part and forward their garbage to SC, Knujon, and also spam[at]uce.gov in one fwd. Take that colocentral!
