  1. Quite often recently Spamcop is returning an error that it cannot find a domain, or cannot find the IP block . . . I check and yes, there it is in broad daylight. ???? http://www.ugnn.com/safenetting/ALERTS/spamcop_lost.jpg Cannot "resolve" domain . . . but I went there, found the Russian drug cartel again, and then pinged it, tracked it and found the owner in Holland. ????

THat worked for that specific error . . . however, since my last posting, another 4,000 have come in, and now they have changed and are mixed with "broken" headers -- as you've noted above -- and these style sheet nightmares . . . . note this one is also an error -- SpamCop sez "Unable to parse headers" and the "Subject" you mention above is up in the header . . . <pre> Return-Path: <verdehedgehog[at]lycos.com> Delivered-To: spamcop-net-showker[at]spamcop.net Received: (qmail 14802 invoked from network); CNN Spammer is back : Eludes SpamCop

For the past two hours I've been contacting the victim web sites. about 50% of them are Wordpress blogs and the arrrival page says "Hello World" :-( okay . . . I'll try that Wow ... that worked. Maybe I can re-database the mbox file to put that space in and pump back through spam cop to get reports. Will have to change all the dates over 24 hours. The victim sites are still there. Even after several days.

CNN Spammer is back : Eludes SpamCop

I really wish I could get some help. This is very frustrating because there are now more than 1,600 since Sunday. The Botnet has infected innocent web sites. Each web site becomes a "landing" site for victims. Each web site owner should be warned and alerted to remove the botnet page. but Spamcop will not. Spamcop's response is "No header information -- no reports sent" We know who is sending the spam. We know where the criminals are. We cannot stop the barrage. 1,600 innocent infected sites, and a new one every 6 minutes. What can we do to alert all those owners? I've send 93 complaints to the ISP and the Host for the offending spambot site. they have ignored it. I've reported the host and the offending owner to ICANN . . . they refuse reports. We're watching the house burn down, hearing the children's screams . . . but nobody does anything but watch. Here's what Spamcop says : SpamCop v © 2013 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. However, because it is misconfigured, Spamcop doesn't "see" it. Cannot report it. The sender is irrelevant ... we know who is sending it, but their provider doesn't do anything. The innocent by-stander site is irrelevant -- they have been compromised, and they do not know the spamvertised page is on their site. The links on the spamvertised site redirect to the cybercrime site. They've changed those domains four times since the barrage started. I've reported those more than 60 times with no success. Evidently they know they're being reported and taken down -- so switch domains. There should be something we can do. I've spent hours and hours and hours on this and haven't made a dent -- trying to report them, and alert their site owners. I'm going to have to give up. :-( Spamcop is my accepting email server.

    Reporting-parsing problems?

First time I've seen this . . . > Can't send report: smtpEnvelope > (5992966293.99ca9149[at]bounces.spamcop.net, abuse[at]interland.com): > smtpTo rcpt to:abuse[at]interland.com > (550 #5.7.1 Your access to submit messages to this e-mail system has been rejected. ) Does that mean SpamCop cannot submit to "Interland" . . . or does it mean I cannot report to Spamcop /??? This is a NASTY phishing attack spoofing Wells Fargo bank. We need to be able to shut these folks down. :-( Not "receiving" reports is a frequent situation, specially with the DNS WhoIS masking services set up by the spammers / cyber criminals. See : where the hosts refuse to cooperate with SpamCop : http://www.ugnn.com/safenetting/ALERTS/CNN-DRUG_CARTELS.html UGNN http://www.SafeNetting.com http://www.Knujon.com
  6. it's weird ... only recently it now refuses to download the .ZIP when I click the little "Download Zip File" button ... . any ideas ???? For instance. The file "updated_articles.zip" comes down as "CgGnDF8o.html.part" clueless :-(
  7. Didn't know where to ask this . . . but it seems concerning, and I'd like to know. Is there a way to show Spamcop the actual spammer when the sutomated Spamcop cannot find it? Just because the owner of the offending server doesn't accept complaints, don't you think the higher-up provider should be alerted . . . particularly when it's drive-by malware or serious phishing? As shown here [edit: image converted - post no images thanks - you can use a tracking URL to safely and conveniently discuss future spam and associated parser responses]

    SpamCop Blocked ???

I just found out my address is being blocked by a system (http://www.marketingprofs.com) and they will not let me register for a newsletter. No problem, I can do without -- yet this is the SECOND time this has happened directly to my face. QUESTION: is there some way to find out who is blocking your address??? I do not know if it's my address specifically or SpamCop as a whole. I get spoofed a LOT. We're spam fighters, and I pursue spammers through their ISPs and providers ... as editor for www.Safenetting.com and the UGNN.com, spammers don't like me one bit. It worries me because I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum from spammers, and it would be very disappointing that I'm being blocked as a spammer. :-)
  10. THANK YOU very much for your diligence in restoring the mail! It's back, restored perfectly. Thank you! Fred

    ***Email **** Important Update

Thank you David -- YES, 100% with David. Even a zip with mbox text files of the folders. I feel so stupid-- an idiot that I can't follow my own preaching over the past 25 years in my newsletters and seminars to BACK UP! Spamcop has (for me at least) NEVER lost a single email, and I was too over-confident... "It can't happen here!" Stupid me! :-( Thank you, Spamcop for doing everything you can to restore.
  12. Please tell me that the 'old' mail account will be restored. Many folders, many filters, and lots of important email. It will be restored, right? If not, this will be the first time in the history of SpamCop that they lost it all. :-(

More relevant now than ever. The 'lull' is over, we're back well over 250 per day, where a couple of months ago, we were down to about 30 a day

I don't know who they are, or how they do it ... but I have to express my HIGHEST praise and COMPLIMENTS to SpamCop programmers and staff. SpamCop Mail has been the cleanest, best and MOST reliable service I've had the pleasure to use since my online experiences began in 1986. Yes, there have been bumps ... bou're always there, you always work, and you (almost) never fail. BRAVO... APPLAUSE... ACCOLADES... I only wish the other hosting services I've used could be nearly as good. I've been in hosting hell for the past year, switching hosts for a dozen different web sites ... switching client emails, etc. Most people have no idea what a pain in the butt it is to switch hosts. We've been hacked several times... we've lost two expensive web sites to injection attacks ... we've had too many problems with hosts ... in the middle of serious server problems right now on another host and so forth. But SpamCop is always there. I consider SpamCop email hosting the best bargain for the buck on the entire internet. I'm moving now to set up my whole family with SpamCop email service. THANK YOU ... THANK YOU... THANK YOU... and please -- keep up the good work! With highest regards, Fred Showker http://www.graphic-design.com http://www.UGNN.com http://www.SafeNetting.com
  16. Do they read it anyway? It would be superb if SpamCop reports would include "found" domains in the email. They do when entering into the online reporting facility, but NOT in the returned reports emailed back. I checked this morning for about 80 spamvertised domains I extracted from the "Held Mail" file, but there were "not found" in any of the SpamCop reports. This would greatly facilitate tracking the spamvertised domains, who owns them and where they're hosted. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION for spam trackers. SpamCop seems to spend so much time on 'who sent' the email, knowing the sender these days are botnets and non-human entities.
  17. Can someone help me understand how 'spam' got into my subject line? I was shocked to see this subject line in my Monday morning newsletter: > [iNFO] ***spam*** InfoManager for Monday, YES, I've listed the list in SpamCop's "Mailhost Configuration" I've mailed this newsletter every Monday morning since 1994. It's never been listed as "spam" How do I read the header to find out * how the listing got there * Why X-SpamCop-Disposition: Blocked SpamAssassin=8 ... when just under it SpamCop lists it as "Whitelisted" * and how to remedy the situation my email address "showker[at]spamcop.net" shows up as the SENDER in dozens of Viagra spams -- is there any way to end that??? HELP: ***spam*** in 'Subject' line???

As a follow up to this thread, I believe now that the newsletter was flagged as spam because of one article about spam contained in the newsletter. However, as for email address spoofing -- I've started getting bounces and "vacation" replies from people I never mailed to. So, what worries me is that the email hijackers are using my address for spam to other people as well -- tagging ME as a spammer. Legal tells me there is sufficient "damage" to me and our business to mount a civil suit. Problem is *who* to sue. They say "sue up the food chain until you find someone in charge" ... registrant, registrar, ISP, ISP Provider, ultimately ICANN. They're all jointly and severally responsible. Hmmmmm.
  19. Okay I need help, and don't know where to look. I read the part : http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showforum=7 But don't have a clue what she's talking about and there's no reply. HERE'S WHAT MediaTemple said: > We have recently been receiving a large number of complaints from the > Spamcop RBL in regarding emails that were forwarded through Email > Aliases on your (gs) service. > Looking over your account I discovered that you have three email aliases > forwarding directly to a Spamcop address. > > Unfortunately, for the time being we cannot continue to allow these > forwarders to be active. The complaints we received all coincided with > other major email providers blocking mail your cluster. I've only put in the change in domains yesterday about this time, so it's been less than 24 hours that SpamCop has been "aware" of our hosting switch to MediaTemple. And, we are not listed in the "Spamcop RBL" ????? I have been forwarding my previous account through SpamCop for close to ten years -- never encountered this. Who can help???? Where should I go next??? How do I know what "... other major email providers" are blocking my email? This is all new to me. We only moved the sites and hosting account to MediaTemple two weeks ago -- at GREAT EXPENSE, and moving away to another host will be a serious hardship. (Enough to start law suits flying)
  20. THANK YOU. I have followed the instructions and "think" I've mapped out MediaTemple. Although SpamCop did NOT send the "secret" email to one of the addresses, it does list MediaTemple as among my email providers. Thanks for your help, those last two did the trick. I think SpamCop needs to do a brief "broadcast" email to all users informing them of this, should they change hosts. It's an item that easily slips through the cracks with all the other woes surrounding changing hosts or email providers. Thanks again Fred
  21. HOW ???? Where is the "Mailhost" tab ??? I do not understand, I've never had to do this in the past. There are dozens and dozens being reported to Mediatemple in the last three days since DNS resolved to the new host. SPAMCOP DOES NOT SEE THE REAL SPAMMER and is reporting ME as the spammer. The WILL NOT ALLOW me to 'forward' mail to SpamCop from my graphic-design.com email. (400 spams per day) Does anyone know an actual SpamCop tech I can communicate with???

When does a request become harrasment?

I've had the same pursuers for several years. The REAL remedy is say "YES" Yes, you ARE interested in selling. Your price is $1,000,000 Offers will immediately stop. Of course, you would probably sell for a million, so if they come back, maybe they're serious. :-) (Adjust the amount up or down in relation to how serious you are about selling. 5-million is not too much to ask if you just want to get rid of the sutor.)
