also, i just read those links & it appears that i'm following proper procedure in revealing data in email & reporting to spamcop. so, hopefully that suffices your request to let you know how these links *don't* answer my question before the effort of a suggestion is offered. ;-] im at a loss as to how to reveal more info. maybe someone familiar with OE6 & hopefully patient would help me out here. thanks

i did just copy & paste it - i never edit.

hi all, spamcop has worked amazingly for me, h/e ive been receiving one word spams lately also (hi or hey) that when i report them, they cant be tracked. would someone advise me... keep in mind, im still a novice & wasnt following prior post replies. thanks spamcop's reply: "No source IP address found, cannot proceed. Add/edit your mailhost configuration Finding full email headers Submitting spam via email (may work better) Example: What spam headers should look like No tracking information found in header: Return-Path: <beau_small[at]abraxis.com> X-Original-To: x Delivered-To: x X-AV-Checked: Sun Jun 5 12:08:21 2005 clean From: "beau_small" <beau_small[at]abraxis.com> To: <x> Cc: x <x>, <x>, <x>, <x>, <x>, <x> Subject: hey Date: Sun, 05 Jun 2005 13:08:19 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="-us-ascii" Message-Id: <2005_________________EE9D[at]mx.velocity.net> X-spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.0.2 (2004-11-16) on spamscan02.velocity.net X-spam-Level: X-spam-Status: No, score=-2.4 required=3.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED, DNS_FROM_RFC_ABUSE autolearn=disabled version=3.0.2Probably not full headers - see FAQ: Email software FAQ no header Here is your TRACKING URL - it may be saved for future reference: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z773550670zb1...f3f776fe7bc519z "

good! thank you for the info. i assume by help desk you mean i could also just call my isp & inform them about the spam?
-
right, i do choose to send the report because thats the second process that takes place after i initailly submit the report. im not going to bother w/quick report. but this sudden elimination of spam can't be a coincidence w/the sudden usage of spamcop. (i'll just consider it a blessing then & leave it at that!). how will i know if i've inadvertently reported myself (er, isp) ? also, i assume that if i just uncheck any report that has my isp listed, i am safe ?
-
bear w/me here - im trying to read about mailhosts while replying too - but, how would i report myself ? also, i dont even know what quick report is ... all i know is that i copy the email (cntrl f3) & paste it into the report in one lump. i dont get any responses or reports emailed back to me & i just assume all is done. hopefully, im doing this ok, as ive said, theres been a great reduction in my spam.
-
im going to try to read as much as you directed me to tonight, h/e, can you tell me what i might jeapordize if i dont do anything ? is that opening up more problems for me ? so far so good - id hate to start problems.
-
ok i have to admit i havent read much about mailhosts but did go to the site flag suggested & it guides you thru adding your mail host. can i just go ahead & follow thru w/this or do you suggest reading more about it. im limited for time & am concerned about your comment of busting my isp. ive submitted several spams now & its still significantly reduced my mail garbage.
-
thanks flagginator (that sounds obscene) for links... those details really help new ones to the forum.
-
oh-oh. .. i dont know what mailhosts are (if you care to explain or direct me) & am a bit concerned over my "immediate" coincidental effect. i better enjoy it while it lasts. im going over to the "how to "forum when get a chance. thanks
-
thanks - ill look into that email. & sorry about posting the partial quote from miss betsy... im still learning to navigate (i think i was trying to reply). ughh. hey, but no spam today again. its unbelievable. ive got lots of learning to do - i still cant believe that by reporting 3 spams, approx 30 spams are completely eliminated. i told miss betsy that i better check into firewall protcection now because am concerned about retaliation.
-
oh btw, if anyone cares to share their opinion about mailwasher & its use of reporting to spamcop i'd be interested. thanks
-
i havent been able to log on for hours but i did thank miss betsy first thing when i could .... & i wanted to thank everyone including this miraculous site for ridding my email of all the trash for the first time in YEARS. i am elated w/the results & i couldnt be more thankful. so THANK YOU MISS BETSY & all! im passing the good word about spamcop....

hi & thanks for reply... ive looked over the faq pages & even some advice from lavasoft forum, so i think im doing this right. however, can you just tell me if in outlook express 6 i right click on the spam, can i just forward as an attachment w/o ctrl-f3 ? i see nothing about how to forward as an attchment. also, if im not doing this correctly, will i get feedback ? do you normally hear anything after you submit these ? thanks for your patience - i really am trying.
-
im brand new so forgive my ignorance, but i 'think' i just submitted two spams to spamcop. however, i did this by using ctrl-f3 & copying/pasting. should i just have attached it (outlook express 6) when i send mail ? i cant forward it from what i know, but i can just send it. thanks
