  1. Lking: expectations😂,  your dry wit matches your MASTER status.

     1) turn on all the notifications and then save at the bottom of the screen.
I have, over 18 months, on & off, off & on... ad infinitum.... so many times. By slow, do you mean "that slow?"

     2) check junk folder for <noreply{AT}spamcop.invisionmanaged.net>  the source of the notifications.

    Ditto...

Nor have I ever blocked or marked as "junk" spamcop.invisionmanaged.net, or "spamcop.anything", for that matter.

    3)  coordination/patience: G🐜H has patience. Coordination:🤔

    2. Disabling  IPv6

    Hey Petzl,

    1. Do you mean G🦗H or everybody if they use a browser inbuilt VPN?

    2. Disabling  IPv6 - yes for xp & anything prehistoric, otherwise disabling W/IPv6 results in connection issues.

I'm not a big fan of VPNs, installed or browser, but, they're useful for testing, doing remote in actual locations and of course save a bucket load of 💰when G🦗H yearns for a 🌍😎 and no ✈️lag.

Just looked and "I" have received 3 email notices about posting in this thread.  The system is a little slow so the notice for the last post from "LKing" has not arrived.

I did notice Minnie me MASTER, I didn't twig (hehe that's an G🦗H in joke) that MASTER woz MM😉

So, 'cause I'm like the system (a little slow), are you saying the mail notifications might not be working for MM or, are working for MM, but, are "a little slow"?

    Confused G🦗H

All preferences have been set & reset, saved, many times, browsers flushed, reset, multiple browsers tried...

<"The administrator has disabled this option from being toggled"> is not set for every available option.

    Is it me or SCF?

    -----------------------------------------------

    • I was expecting emails to come to my email account that my SCF profile is based on....
    • Is my "expectation" the issue?

I remain, an always grateful and easily confused G🦗H🙏

Yes the notification system does work.  I receive several admin types for example when someone reports a spam or when someone makes a post that needs to be approved, I am notified.

In the passed bulk notification has been sent when the forum will be down for maintenance.  Which notice are you looking for?  I will try to see why it is not working for you.

    Hello MASTER,

    Thanks for the followup.

I wasn't looking for a "specific" email/notification. I've never received email notifications. (It's been on the backburner forever, just got around to writing a post about it😉)

I'm wondering if, 'cause you're a MASTER (Admin) you may belong to an "elevated privilege" category?

I can't test this "theory", but maybe, someone who has SCF "Admin" authority could create a dummy, pleb account, set up Mail notifications and see what arrives ... ?

    As always, curious G🦗H🙏

Sometimes asking Tech Support for help is the right way to get something fixed!

My pleasure Hank! You're very welcome!

The (a.local-delivery was in the mailhosts, but b.local-delivery wasn't) information from Richard is important, as has been everything that's evolved as a result of your [Mailhost configuration problem, identified internal IP as source] post. You should take a lot of kudos for asking questions and providing information that lead to the solution.

Sometimes problems have many layers/fixes, try one solution, doesn't work, try another, ad infinitum, until it's fixed.

The beauty of a forum is "shared information has the potential to help many."

I subscribe to a few core beliefs: "never give up", "there's always a solution" & "stick to yer lane", the last being particularly useful helping  G🦗remain unsquashed😉

    Cheers!

SOLVED by Spamcop staff, after I sent another bounce to them in email and asked for more help. Problem found and fixed.
    Here is the explanation:
    ==========
a.local-delivery was in the mailhosts, but b.local-delivery wasn't. At one time that would have been ignored as a local hop, but some of the coding for IPv6 screwed things up so even versions numbers of some things look like IP addresses.

Excellent! Thank you for posting back Hank, that's very helpful information!

BTW, don't know if "75" or explain as if you're explaining to a "75 aged person", actually means you're 75, but, that's a long way off old, 'n old 'aint dead!

    Happy spam fighting!

    Happy spam fighting G🦗H

  8. G🦗H has, over a 18 month period, selected/configured some or all of the following:

    1. Send me news and information - yes
    2. One email per day with all new content from that day - yes
    3. One email per week with all new content from that week - yes
    4. Only send one email notification for content I follow until I revisit the community - yes

G🦗H has never received any communications of any kind.

Does SCF email notifications feature work please🤔?

What Spamcop is trying to tell me when I get this warning:
    1) Does that mean that, somewhere in the headers of the submitted spam, there is a mailhost for which I don't have an entry?
    2. Can I hand-edit the problem spam to take something out that makes Spamcop identify "internal IP as source"?
    3. I don't see what the "internal IP" is that's causing the error.

    Hello Hank

I'm cross posting with Petzl, (not cross with Petlz😂), this is additional to anything our friend has posted, I've yet to get up to speed with his posts, just wanted to try to answer your: "help me understand"

    1. No.

    2. No/maybe/possibly, however, the workable solution is to have a backup SC account WITHOUT any MAILHOSTS configured. It doesn't need to be a paid account & you don't need to use it all the time - ONLY when you get a spam that won't parse with a SC account WITH MAILHOSTS configured.

    3. Exactly, sometimes EVEN SC can't do things or can't do things perfectly, that's why there's a backup solution.

You need to get to work, you're running late: the car has a flat battery, shot brakes, a busted piston and the universal joint is "$#*&%'d", in short the car is "$#*&%'d".

You are going to be late for work, the last time you were late your Boss said, "next time, don't bother turning up!"

Do you try to work out how to fix the "$#*&%'d" vehicle or do you use an alternative means of getting to work?

If you hate the job you piss around with the car, if you need the job. CieLeVie😉

& (now I've had a chance to absorb Petzl's posts), what Petzl has posted is important, however, "x spamcop.net" does not appear in all your original parsed spams.

So, two bob each way, use the backup solution AND contact SCA "Help" and ask them to check your configured MAILHOSTS?

https://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/401.html, at the very bottom of the page: select [Other reasons for contact][Reason for contact], put a brief description:

"Please check my MailHosts config to see if my SpamCop email address is in mailhosts & please let me know?"

If you're a nice person & it seems you are, you'll say "thanks", if you're like G🦗H you won't!

    • If SCA find a SpamCop email address in MAILHOSTS, please share with us as this is a "possibly" new, additonal, IMPORTANT, information that can help others.

    Many thanks and cheers!

    G🦗H

  11. Hey Hank,

I set up a "dummy" SC account, NO MailHosts, bare bones, no extra tweaks...

    SC account =  MynameTest, pwd

    I (reparsed)

    https://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z6550787211z905db5082b84aaf3684b505829469a4az

    https://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z6550829312z28b288e7765aed3250e66e22677929e8z

    https://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z6550842701za1bd11a6d6d70b087d39b687f50d6f58z

SC account with NO MailHosts allows the spam to be parsed.

If ever, my SC account WITH MailHosts gives a result that generates ANY errors, I try the SC account WITHOUT MailHosts.

(in my experience) every time I try to modify my SC account with MailHosts I can't do successfully AND, setting up the original hosts was really messy, in the end SCA fixed, what's working I leave working. I don't wish to pester SCA "please fix what I've buggered up, again!" A dummy SC account works as a backup for any spam that won't parse.

If I hit a spam that cannot be parsed with either account, I pester everyone here😉

Please let us know how you go?

    Cheers!

    1. Can't work out that address is DASH a  "-"?
    2. What do they do? could

    1. Yes. Dash = "-". 18.179.148.154  - Amazon AWS Network Operations

    2. No idea, thought, maybe, amzDASHnocDASHcontactATamazon.com could be added to your growing list, in the futile hope, that a human with a "brain" might take appropriate action (upon reading the notes) or redirect to someone else who'd do so.

It's clear to me P, you know far more than G🦗H, so, don't worry about my feeble suggestions, G🦗H just hoping to get a working solution so some of the A-aggravation was lessened.

  13. By now,  everybody knows how much I bitch & moan about NOT getting any spam any more bc SC works so well & everybody knows how excited I got when MASTER announced a "new" wizzbang "destroy & destruct "tool", so excited in fact, my weedy G🦗H legs wobbled so much, I tumbled off the 🌾. After I'd picked myself up, dusted myself off & hopped back to a prime position, I busied myself with a search & destroy mission - I felt good, for a while, actually until about 7 minutes ago, when, for the 1st time in my life I got a spam that necessitates reporting to, yup, exactly, FB!

Is it K🦗rma? Dunno, it's either that or a remarkable coincidence🤔
