Are there any web sites that have simple recipes for guys? For example, if I want to make my own ketchup from scratch, using tomato paste or tomatoes, all I can find are absurdly complicated instructions that involve ten steps using twenty ingredients that I don't have and don't want. As an analogy, you can fix almost anything with duct tape and vise grips. There must be corresponding simple techniques for making food.

As an experiment, I cut up into small pieces a couple of Russet potatoes, a carrot and an apple, added a raw egg, some bits of onion and garlic, cooked the mixture in a frying pan, then added ketchup and spices. It was delicious. Is there a name for this?

There's no need for compliments either. We're all in this together. Teamwork!

I'm glad I could help clarify the situation. There no need for thanks.

As a business, Google's priority is to make money, not help us avoid spam.

"Mailhost configuration problem, identified internal IP as source" - can't submit ANY spam!

One possibility is to "munge" the information you don't want revealed, before Spamcop parses it. -
May you recover from your health issues and have the strength to continue deleting forum spam for the next 20 years!!!

Office365 hosted email always reports to the same place

I now see that you mentioned Mailhosts in your original post. Sorry ? -

Do you have Mailhosts configured? https://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/397.html -
I checked and saw that the forum registration page uses a CAPTCHA to prevent robots from registering. Do you think that the spam posts here (which seem to be steadily increasing) are done by a robot that's able to defeat the CAPTCHA, or are human beings actually registering manually? The CAPTCHA used by this site is that annoying RECAPTCHA project. Due to its widespread use, the spammers have probably prioritized cracking it. A simpler do-it-yourself CAPTCHA might be more effective.
-
By "resolved", do you mean that the RECAPTCHA was replaced by a better CAPTCHA, and that the forum spam is minimized or eliminated?

I look forward to seeing their upcoming final report, if it provides more details.

It may make sense to conceal some of the details of what's being worked on. But when the people doing that work remain anonymous and never communicate with the Spamcop users, it's hard to remain confident in the system.

HTTPS encrypts data during its transmission between client and destination server. If the destination server, i.e. the site, is hacked, any data there is available to the hacker, regardless of whether HTTPS or HTTP was used.

The relationship, if any, between epl.paypal-communication.com and paypal.com seems to be a mystery. Related topic: http://forum.spamcop.net/topic/16764-paypal-settlement-scam/ I did some web searching, but couldn't find a clear answer.

Help verifying email is in fact fake/spam
Dave_L replied to ramack's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
Please post the Tracking URL, which appears near the top of the page of the Spamcop output. That will let us see the email headers, as well as the full text of the email. -
That Amazon thing is a non-issue. It was tied to a feature I didn't use, well-publicized, easy to disable, and no longer exists. What are the "others"?
-
Off topic: Is there actual evidence that Canonical does that? I remember an issue involving web tracking, but that setting could be turned off. I'm currently using Xubuntu 16.04. I avoid Google's search engine, and use Duck Duck Go instead.

spam traps - Why do they hate me so much?
Dave_L replied to Tony Cheetham's topic in SpamCop Blocklist Help
The randomish nature of spam trap email addresses makes it extremely unlikely that a visitor would enter the address in the form. -
Your post motivated me to do some research on John Venn. He has an interesting resume: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Venn http://www.famousinventors.org/john-venn It's too bad he's not around to help with the spam issues.

Are the people who can make such changes completely out of the loop?

Lking: Do you have access to the forum's admin control panel (or whatever it's called)? If so, you might be able to piggyback onto one of your existing honeypots, using the QuickLinks feature. https://www.projecthoneypot.org/faq.php#f

Does this site have a "honey pot"? Re: https://www.projecthoneypot.org/ If not, that's fairly easy to set up.

How to report spam which was forwarded from another internal user?
Dave_L replied to stevetb's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
Thanks for that clarification.
