new mailhost added with incorrect details
Dave_L replied to milespware's topic in Mailhost Configuration of your Reporting Account
And if you want to verify that Mailhosts is behaving rationally, you could look at the headers for one of your email messages and see what servers are actually present in the routing. -
receiving spam from new guoxin telecom corporation

Those aren't tracking URLs. After you parse the spam, look for this:- 13 replies

Is Spamcop parser finding correct sender for Hotmail spam?
Dave_L replied to MyNameHere's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
That's not a tracking URL. On that page, which only you can view, look for: "Here is your TRACKING URL - it may be saved for future reference:" -
It's irrelevant for former CESmail account holders such as we: http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/topic/14277-cesmail-system-changes/page-4#entry90968

How do I identify a spam trap from a spam trap header .txt
Dave_L replied to felixsanch's topic in SpamCop Lounge
Assuming that you use a confirmed-opt-in procedure for adding email addresses to your mailing list, can't you cross-check the confirmations you received against the current list, to see if there are any discrepancies? -
How do I identify a spam trap from a spam trap header .txt
Dave_L replied to felixsanch's topic in SpamCop Lounge
What does that mean? -
Try changing the forwarding address to "nobody[at]null.invalid" or "nobody[at]example.com". Those are reserved non-existent email addresses.
-
When the CESmail service was discontinued on Sep. 30, 2014, the announcement said that forwarding was guaranteed for 12 months. Maybe that's now in the process of being phased out completely? Actually, the forwarding never worked for me, so I abandoned using my Spamcop email address back then.

I made pudding from scratch recently, using this recipe: http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/easy-chocolate-pudding The only problem is that it doesn't solidify adequately. Could that be because I'm using non-fat milk, while the recipe appears to be designed for whole milk, considering the listed "Nutritional Facts"? Do I need to use more corn starch?

Thanks, I get it now. But I think there's something intrinsically wrong with a phrase that requires a video tutorial to explain it. Just an observation.
-
I don't understand what that means.

Thanks I've wondered how some of these dishes were "invented." It doesn't seem likely someone would stumble across these combinations of ingredients by accident.

payments.verisign.com certificate issues
Dave_L replied to glennstar's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
Is that Spamcop's certificate, or Verisign's? If the latter, it's rather ironic: -
The randomish nonsense text is intended to trick content filters. Apparently spammers get some money from people clicking on links, even if they don't buy anything. spam may contain scri_pt that automatically "clicks links". If your email client is not configured securely, just reading the spam is enough to benefit the spammer. Sometimes the spam you receive is sent by a novice spammer using his newly purchased "make money fast" spamming kit, and he neglected to follow the instructions.
-
Why is it strange?
-
I do not think that would help. Spammers do not care about bounces.

I have a gmail address that I use on rare occasions for accessing web sites, but I don't use it for actual email. Why would Google care about a petition? As long they keep getting money from advertisers, there's no incentive for them to change their policies. I don't even use Google as a search engine. I usually stick to DuckDuckGo or Startpage, both of which claim to respect your privacy.

But enforcing that means giving the government control of internet content. Once that happens, you'll lose the freedom to view and post information unless a third party approves of it.
-
Because Spamcop doesn't own the internet? And government control is a mixed bag. Do you really want some government agency deciding which email is ok and which is not?
-
Fascinating, as Mr. Spock would say. I may try some of those. But those recipes are still more complicated than what I'm looking for. Keep trying

Can't parse date of spam for age detection: 2015-Mar-07 20:37:53
Dave_L replied to mortician's topic in SpamCop Reporting Help
In a case like this, would it be ok for the reporter to manually change the date in the header to an acceptable format? -
Still waiting for an answer .... don't make me beat it out of you.

Sneakemail DOT com is a useful resource for creating throwaway email addresses. Are there any reputable sites for creating throwaway phones numbers? I'm seen some sites that claim to offer this service, but I don't know which ones I can trust. Do you know of any that are safe to use, in the sense that they can be trusted not to provide your personal information to third parties, and to completely delete your information when you so request?

I am already a competent spaghetti-cooker. I seek to acquire other skills, such as manufacturing ketchup, mustard, bread and other ancient crafts. The problem is that the online recipes seem targeted toward OCD personalities that like complex procedures. I'm looking for K.I.S.S. solutions.
