  1. Hi, Bachus, ...Spambo's point, IIUC, is that if you are posting to this public forum then you are implicitly seeking advice from those of us in the public. If you want a reply only from "someone who makes these decisions," then there is one and only one thing you must do: communicate directly with Julian as (IIUC) the one and only person who "makes these decisions." .
  2. ...Well, I copied and pasted the headers from another spam into the first part of the two-part form and then the part of your post between the horizontal lines into the lower part of the form and sent it to the parser. Why is my email blocked?

213.22.56.30 [a213-22-56-30.netcabo.pt] appears to be an IP used by netcabo.pt for DHCP assignment to cable modem users. <snip> Hi, Spambo! ...OIC! Thanks for the patient explanation. Man, I learn a lot from my fellow SpamCop users!

    Reverse NDR Spam

...No, tell your (and your correspondents') e-mail service provider to use the SpamCop BL (and all other BLs) appropriately if you want them in your Inbox, the e-mail service provider should pass them to your Inbox if someone else wants them delivered to a "check for spam" folder, the e-mail service provider should deliver them to that person's "check for spam" folder if I want to never see them, the e-mail service provider should just reject them You are advocating "customized customer service", which is definitely possible (but very unlikely) for an ISP to initiate <snip> ...Well, yes, I guess so, kind of like customized colors for automobiles, instead of Henry Ford's "any color you want, so long as you want black!" ...They probably don't use SpamCop BL, but Yahoo!Mail delivers suspected spam to a "Bulk Mail" folder, so they use my option 2. If I were they, I'd encourage my users to opt for (or perhaps just enforce) option 3, but then they didn't ask me. That's okay with me, provided they don't start asking me to pay for their heretofore "free" e-mail service (supported by having occasional ads).
  5. Been using Outlook and OE for years and never had a problem. Sounds more like a user problem than a software problem but many people like to blame the software for their lack of knowledge. ...Bravo, Merlyn! True enough ... But having good software to begin with, will provide a good start. ...If only I had a choice and did not have to use what my employer insists I use!

    Reverse NDR Spam

Using an "automatic" content filter like K9 means that 99% of spam can be sent directly to the Wastebasket. <snip> ...Gee, I guess I will send my bill for the e-mail bandwidth I incur (because of all the spam I receive) to you, then.

    Spam complaints used by spammers?

Hi, Wolf! ...Please see Pinned: FAQ Entry: Why am I getting all these bounces?.
  9. Nice answer! ...Indeed, it was! ...Note, though, that Windows often (usually? always?) comes with a default setting that hides the display of the extensions, so what may appear to be a file called "innocent-looking.txt" may actually be "innocent-looking.txt.exe" and do lots of damage!

    Why is my email blocked?

Hi, Spambo! ...Why do you say that? The IP in question appears to be the OP's service provider, not the OP her/himself. Sorry. Perhaps you can explain why I shouldn't believe Robert? So far I have no reason to think he's been untruthful and the IP is listed on more than one DUL list.. <snip> ...Sorry, I do not see what I wrote that makes you believe that I said that you should not believe Robert. ...You wrote to him that his PC "is being used to abuse other people and networks." The IP in question (213.22.56.30 ) appears to belong to an ISP, not to Robert.

    Why is my email blocked?

Hi, Robert, ...It appears that the IP address in question belongs to Portugal Cable Modem Network, which I presume is your Cable provider, not you. That means it is their problem, not yours (except that you are suffering from their inability or unwillingness to stop spam from going through their server). E-mails should be going to their abuse address so they should be fully aware of the problem. You may wish to complain to them that you are not getting the e-mail service you contracted for because of their inaction in shutting down the spam. If they will not respond, you should try to find a more responsive provider. ...Good luck!
  15. Hi, Subscriber, ...Good luck. ...BTW, you can save yourself some typing by referring to me using my real name, Steve (see my sig) rather than my username, turetzsr.

    Spam Disguised as a Bounce

...Thanks, JeffG. Perhaps I misunderstood Ellen's posts here and in the help ng to send such things to the deputies. I presumed that, although they themselves can't do anything about it, they provide "triage" for those who can.

    Is spamcop useless?

Hi, Miss Betsy, ...yourbuddy is more than welcome, IMHO, to post anything (s)he wants here. But (s)he has shown a predilection towards unfounded accusations against SpamCop.Net without making any apparent effort to understand what is really happening. And it gets worse, rather than better, with each of our replies. ...DePauw is a totally different personality and seems to be engaging in a dialog as opposed to simply trying to aggravate us for the fun of it....

    Spam Disguised as a Bounce

Hi, Memphomom! ...In addition to AlphaCentauri's excellent advice, please either: post this in news.spamcop.net/spamcop.spam newsgroup, if you are facile with NNTP forward the e-mail, with complete headers, to deputies <at> admin.spamcom.net (replace the " <at> " by an at sign, [at]) so that the SpamCop deputies can have a look at it. ...Good luck!
