    Reporting spam getting useless?

Hi, John, ...Well, I can't really help you much because I don't use OE for e-mail. However, you might try the following: Skip your step 1 -- my understanding is that it isn't necessary If when you originally signed up with SpamCop you received an e-mail with subject "SpamCop authorization," go to the link that follows "Alternately, you can submit spam via the web here:" then click the link labeled "Select outlook/eudora workaround form" and paste in the headers and body in the separate entry areas and press the "Process spam" button Have a look at these SpamCop FAQ pages: Microsoft Products and Outlook 98 and 2000 ...Hope this helps!

    Reporting spam getting useless?

...Sorry, John, I may be mistaken but I don't believe that phone support is offered for SpamCop reporting. ...When spam reporting rises to the top of your priority list, please return here with questions. ...By the way, you can help your fingers by addressing me as "Steve" rather than "turetzsr."

    Reporting spam getting useless?

Hi, John, ...My assumption is that Miss Betsy's post answered your question. If not, please post another here and we'll try to help further.

...You may not be able to do that, unless you are you the Admin of 12.148.252.66? If so, please see Help for abuse-desks and administrators and How can I get SpamCop reports about my network?.

    Reporting spam getting useless?

Hi, bd! ...(b)DePauw as in Greencastle, IN? My mom and sister live down the road in Terre Haute, so (assuming my guess to be correct) I pass by your neighborhood quite frequently! ...Thanks for fixing that! ...Fair enough, we won't insist that you use them, although your e-mail customers might appreciate it if you would, so that likely spams go to a separate folder. ...Note that SpamCop doesn't recommend doing that! ...SpamCop doesn't ban anyone, so it won't ban for a difference in views. However, I don't see a difference in views, here.

version of horde - address icon

Hi, Bill, ...Yep, I gathered that. What does it do, and how does it get launched? ...It may also help you get answers if you post a "personal message" to the moderator, JeffG, and ask him to move this thread to the Email Help group, since people who are familiar with SpamCop webmail are more likely to be lurking there. ...Good luck!

Hi, Bill! ...Since I noticed that you have not received a reply all day, I thought I'd ask the naive question: what in the world is horde?

    SPEWS Listing All Comcast Subscribers

...No, I don't want that. All of my family and friends use e-mail providers other than Comcast and I want to receive their e-mail. All of my work colleagues use my employer's e-mail server and I want to receive their e-mail. ...If anyone whose e-mail I wish to receive decides to use Comcast, I shall strongly urge them to switch to a responsible e-mail provider. If they can't do that, for some reason, I'll just copy their e-mails out of my "this may be spam" folder into my Inbox.

    I reported myself?

...But even your "IMHO"s, IMHO, are worthwhile, such as http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?...st=0entry2727. And have you forgotten your substantive contributions to the FAQ?

    SPEWS Listing All Comcast Subscribers

Hi, schalliol! ...Perhaps you don't, but I certainly do! A very large proportion of my 10-50 spam e-mails per day come from (or through) Comcast IP addresses. I wish my employer's network admins would flat-out refuse anything that comes through either a Comcast server or from Taiwan or from ChinaNet!

    reporting sites?

Hi, Piscator! ...Hmm, I just tried SpamCop parser of an invented HTML formatted spam with an anchor tag (<a href=..., a hyperlink) and an image tag (<img src=...). It found the anchor href but not the image src to report as spamvertizing. ...If it is going to report spamvertizing, you should see something like this:

    Troubleshooting Bri's PC

Hi, Bri! ...Oops, I used the wrong terminology...I meant this (from Microsoft Security Advisor Program: Glossary of Terms): A firewall won't do anything to stop this if you've downloaded the virus. ...You're quite welcome! ... Are you asking what are the causes of a browser window trying to open when you click on the link, or what are the causes of the firewall stopping it? If the former: some scri_pt that executes a "window.open" command or some such; I regret that I don't know enough about firewalls to know the answer if you mean the latter. ...No offense taken - I understand the "mistake" - in fact, I don't consider it to have been a mistake at all!

    Troubleshooting Bri's PC

Hi, Bri! ...It's Steve (not Turet). See my sig. ...Sure! It could be on the web page as a file with any extension that you have associated with Word (.dot, .doc, .rtf, .wri, etc). There might be some scripting around it that would cause it to be executed without your having to take any action other than to open the web page (or e-mail). ...Almost certainly -- again, with some kind of scripting. It could be done either with scri_pt right on the web page or it could be done in a Word document that gets executed when you open the page, or probably any number of other ways. ...Not sure about the CTRL-ALT-DELETE thingy. I would presume that a virus program running on your PC could intercept the CTRL-ALT-DELETE transmission and use it for its own purpose (such as deleting files or wiping a hard disc) but I thought Microsoft wrote Windows so that could not happen. Still, I suppose a virus could do something to some internal Windows component that would defeat whatever precautions Microsoft took ... I would guess using a buffer overflow or insecure privileged usercode or something along those lines.
  19. ...A wish list item for the parser: if body exceeds the allowed size, provide reporter with option to simply automatically truncate to the allowed size and proceed to generate spam reports. ...Currently, the parser seems to treat any spam body that includes Chinese characters as "too long," making me diddle the body to remove most or all the Chinese. I don't consider that to be a productive or necessary use of my time as a reporter. ...Thanks for considering this!
  20. ...What shall I send -- the request and reason for it? And how?
  21. Hi, Wazoo, ...Thanks for the suggestion. Not worth the bother, since NNTP is not permitted by my employer, where I do all my spam reporting.

    Held Mail problems

Hi, mmr! ...Looks like you may have the same problem as discussed (with solution) at Question about Login problems?, This has been going on for about a week..
