    Filtering

Hey thanks. I've done checked out them-thar articles. Um. I decided to test for a self-defined header of "HEAD_ILLEGAL_CHARS" and if it == 1 then dump the message to held mail for review if and when I get a round tuit. We'll see what happens. Now if I could just do this on my smartphone's K9-based app too....

    Filtering

Is there a way to have emails filtered directly to my held mail folder based on presence of a Asian character set in the subject line?

    Mail/dns issues

OR - as I said early on in one of these posts - maybe they're more concerned on working on fixing the problem. Sheesh, people. Give 'em a break. No one's perfect.

    Mail down

I guess I wasn't clear. I'm not in a position to judge it as being a major issue though in my opinion it is not. I take it that in your opinion it was a major issue. That's fair. Personally I don't know of any other blocklist provider that provided self-reporting tools, but then again I've never looked as I'm happy with spamcop. Like many people, though, I have a secondary address which I can use if needed though that does not, of course, help with an email sent to me at spamcop.net.

I do remember it. I don't consider it a major issue. In any case I'm not in a position to judge.

    Mail down

Spamcop is quite inexpensive and highly reliable. I don't recall any "major issues," ever. But like the entire information systems world the system runs on computers and computers fail. It is the nature of the beast. Thinks like this will always come up from time to time and Spamcop **routinely** does an admirable job of handling them. Admittedly they focus more on fixing the problem than informing uses - but that just shows they are establishing good priorities with limited resources.

    webmail problem

Unable to log into held mail from http://mail.spamcop.net/members.php to the Report spam link ( http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog ) eether. Throws the error, "Cannot log into IMAP mailserver as xxxxxxxxx[at]spamcop.net."
  10. I get messages with <cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn> (with the < and the >) in the Return-Path header, and vdifef <cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn> (with the < and the >) in the From header. I have cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn (without the < and the >) in my blacklist. Should this message be coming through? Note, the X-SpamCop-Disposition Header = Blacklist cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn !

    Filter not working?

No, I'm not applying them manually - they are all automatic. And the only folder that ever opens first for me is the inbox.

    Filter not working?

All filter options are checked: X Apply filter rules upon logging on? X Apply filter rules whenever INBOX is displayed? X Allow filter rules to be applied in any mailbox? X Show the filter icon on the menubar? However I saw that I was filtering only unseen messages. I changed this to filter all messages. This should not have made a difference since this is the first filter on the list and nothing should have been marked read prior to operation of this filter. I provided the links because SteveU pinged me for not doing so : "Yet another case where a Tracking URL would actually help to stop all the guessing...." I thought I said before that the messages were ending up in heldmail, maybe not. However that applied only to the blacklist entry - I've seen nothing in the Help anywhere that says blacklisted mail should be delivered. Quite the opposite, Help says it will not be delivered. These messages above also appeared in heldmail. But again, for this filter I selected "delete message completely," so it should at best end up in the trash.

    Filter not working?

cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn is on my filter list and yet the following two messages were delivered today: 1. http://mailsc.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=gett...rtid=2747011360 2. http://mailsc.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=gett...rtid=2747011673 and http://mailsc.spamcop.net/sc?track=http%3A...%2Fh%2F%3Fgbbsp The filter rule is If From contains cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn Or Source contains cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn Then Delete message completely. It is the first rule on my list. So - What's the deal?
  14. First, with regard to FAQ about the Personal Blacklist and Whitelist : What headers are checked?, will *.cn work? I get a lot of spam from *.cn and don't know nobody there nohow. So I'm perfectly happy to block the whole domain. Second, while I'm here - are there any options for setting up of auto-reply, auto-forward, and other such rules (apart from whatever mail client I might wish to use)? Third, some emails, e.g. those with a From header of cjyoujsd[at]yahoo.com.cn, send me scads and scads of spam and it would be nice to find a way to report them without human or even user (me) intervention. I expect the answer is "no," but no harm in asking . . . .
  15. Two questions here. May I safely assume that even though the spam shown below had my own address in the header, by filing the report I have not accused myself of sending it? Second, except for the "network hosting website referenced in spam," no report has been filed against the sender or intermediate ISPs. Could someone explain how this works? In other words, why not? Third, is anything being done by the various gummints or organizations involved, to pull the internet access or ISP's who refuse to take action against spammers who are using or hacking into their networks? Sure, lots of spam is generated by my.neighbors.bot.net but lots is also generated, I should think, by spammers with paid (or otherwise authorized) accounts with ISP's who just don't care. Surely "we have the technology" to totally exclude an ISP, even all the way up to a top level domain owner, who refuses to do anything about the unsolicited email passing through their systems. Fourth, what, theoretically, did my report below do? Did it get 87.240.63.252 or any of the referenced IP addressses added to a blocklist? Thanks folks. 17. Can anyone offer any ideas as to why these messages always get to my inbox, never end up in held mail till i move them there? I do have my own address on my whitelist. Spam not getting caught

so the whitelist checks only the header than, I take it.
  19. I use Firefox. Firefox uses a file called userChrome.css to change webpage appearance for links, etc.. On a spamcop heldmail page, each message is listed, and the subject is bolded in black. I'm told that the html is not going to get any further attention. Problem is, the alleged sender's email address is shown but is not bolded or set apart in any way, making the email addresses difficult to pick out on scanning the page. I would like a solution (ideally a userChrome.css modification) that will simply locate these email "non-links" (i.e., I think they have no mailto in the code) and colorize or bold them or something so that they are visually different. Any thoughts on how to do this?, either via modifying the userChrome.css, using greasemonkey, or using the Stylish extension for Firefox?

    Color email addresses in heldlog

How/where do I do this? Edited by moderator (Steve T) to correct quote.
  21. Those who wish can also "grab" the headers directly. Open the message in a new window. Then select View-->Attachments, then context-click each attachment to View-->Attachment until you can open and view the 822 file. You can then copy and paste the headers and necessary. I apologize for the vagueness of the above instructions, but you get the general idea and should be easily able to go from there.
  22. Is there a way to delete the Personal Address Book or the Private Address Book?
  23. How do you make webmail re-display the inbox after emptying trash?

    Webmail HTML

Two questions Is someone working on something somewhere so that somehow I will be able to see HTML messages when I view via webmail, instead of having to download the message as an attachment? I would be totally OK with non-display of images - in fact I would be totally OK with complete conversion of the HTML to plain text - but I'm known to be lazy and would dearly love to avoid having to go through an extra step to view a message just because it was composed in HTML. That said, sometimes I do get (I assume washed) HTML messages direct in webmail; but others just tell me there are no parts what can be displayed inline. Maybe because the message was sent as HTML-part only, and not HTML part plus TXT part. I dunno. If this should more properly be in the enhancement request section, it would "be a goodness" if someone moves it, but I thought this was the more appropriate place to post. Second question, what is being done about getting images to display. E.g., someone sends me a JPG, I click on its link instead of its download arrow, and I get the message that my browser (Firefox) does not support display of this filetype. Comments anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Frau Bluecher? Anyone . . . ?
