FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) have become a common part of most web sites today.
They are created for the purpose of making the task of finding answers to your questions faster and easier.
The SpamCop tool set and features are quite complex and as a result the list of different questions that come up regarding it is very extensive. Add to that, the fact that the paid staff is very small and are easily buried; the need for a comprehensive FAQ becomes quickly apparent. But you may ask "Why are there so many different FAQ's, it makes it hard to find what I am looking for and they do not all agree with each other?"
The attempt to answer that question may hopefully make finding answers to your questions easier.
The original and only "official" FAQ is now maintained by IronPort and can be found at http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/1.html and is titled: SpamCop FAQ. This "official" FAQ has unfortunately become out of date and very much lacking. Due to a lack of staff and the fact that any change must now go through the legal department before it is implemented, it has become apparent that depending on this "official" FAQ as the primary source of information is inadequate and that an alternative FAQ might be beneficial.
Since the primary support groups for SpamCop SpamCopNewsGroups and the SpamCopForum are user driven and supported, rather than staff driven; the logical choice was to develop a user created and maintained FAQ.
Unfortunately the structure of the SpamCopNewsGroups does not provide for a practical means of developing a FAQ, which then left the SpamCopForum as the logical choice for creating one.
This has been an on going effort begun by Wazoo and developed and maintained by a small group of volunteers. It is constantly being updated and expanded and has grown to the point that its very size makes it difficult to use; therefore other alternatives have been tested and developed.
Because the Forum itself is complex, a separate Forum FAQ was created to explain how the forum works and how to get what you need from it. The Forum FAQ can be found at: http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4351 titled: SpamCop Forum FAQ, work in progress
The main FAQ in the forum can be found at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2238 titled: Original SpamCop FAQ & Added Forum Items, Never up to date, changes often. It contains links to the Forum FAQ and the Original "official" FAQ as well as an extensive list of additional entries; all in an attempt to make finding what you want easier.
To make finding definitions of terms used by SpamCop easier, a glossary was developed in the Forum which can be found at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4473 titled: SpamCop Glossary, Alphabetical listing of the glossary
Another attempt at creating an easy to use glossary as attempted using the following dictionary format found at http://forum.spamcop.net/dict/display.php titled: SpamCop Dictionary.

The most recent attempt at making a more user friendly FAQ is this Wiki. It is basically one giant FAQ that is broken into segments with indexes and links used to tie the various parts together is a somewhat orderly fashion.
The glossary in the Wiki (SpamCopGlossaryWiki) is the most detailed version and has links to external sources for those looking for a more detailed explanation.
At this present point in time, the FAQ in the Forum is the most comprehensive, but the Wiki version is expanding on the forum version in an attempt to make it easier to use and understand.
