Welcome to the SpamCop.net Wiki. We hope you will have an enjoyable experience here. We look forward to you joining us in making this Wiki a more user friendly and informative place where one may find everything and anything you ever wanted to know about SpamCop.net and it's various tools.
Focus
This is a tool to develop, hold, maintain, and offer answers to question that one may want to ask about the operations, impacts, and usage of the various parts of the SpamCop.net toolset. It is admittedly not a 'great' tool for trying to carry on a conversation. Recall that the basic concept of a Wiki is that if the content needs editing, then one jumps in and starts editing. The downside of this scenario is that any idiot could also decide to 'edit' the page into meaningless garbage. Thus the issue on how to keep things free and clear to those that would wish to help, yet limit the damage capabilities by those unfortunate others, not so pure of heart. If it's the actual content that's at issue, there is generally the Comment action that can be used to 'drop a note' on that page. If it is something beyond that, it is recommended that the question, commentary, rant, etc. get posted in to the
SpamCop Forum∞ or the
SpamCopNewsgroups for the 'needed' dialog to resolve the issue, answer the question, blow off steam, whatever .....
Most pages can be viewed without being a registered user; but if you would like to add a comment or add content to our Wiki, you must become a registered user. There is no cost to register. Unfortunately, due to hackers, we have had to remove automatic registration. For more information on how to register see:.
How Do I Register
Problem viewing certain pages
I am a registered user but when I try to view certain pages all I see is:
You aren't allowed to read this page. What's up?
There are three separate functions upon which this Wiki has been built; they are:
- Read (the ability to open a page and read its contents)
- Write (the ability to edit a page)
- Comment (the ability to add a comment at the bottom of a page)
User access to pages is restricted based on a set of ACL's that are attached to each and every page.
Some pages, like
PageIndex, have been set to not allow any comments, as such, the comment entry fields are not displayed.
For those who would like to experiment using the Wiki, the
SandBox is the place to start.
FormattingRules will give you the necessary syntax for making your content look they way you want it to look.
Navigational Tips
One of the advantages of the Wiki is the ease in making links to other content. Many of those links are automatic. Links generally are indicated in
blue type. Moving your mouse pointer on top of any link will change its color and add an underline under the link title.
Note: title bar links change color but do not get underlined. Left clicking on a link will replace the current page with the new linked page. Clicking on your "Back" button in your browser will return you to the previous page. Right clicking gives you the option to open the link in a new window. (This is a browser function or preference setting) After clicking on a link, its color will change from
blue to another color, indicating that you have visited that link. That color will be persistant until the "history" and/or cache of your browser has been cleared.
Links to content not contain with in this Wiki (
external links) are indicated with the following tail "
∞" which is appended at the end of all external links.
