To access your reporting options you visit
www.spamcop.net∞ and login.
You should be presented with a welcome message under which is an empty text (input) box.
Now, you should copy the entire
spam message you wish to
report to your clipboard. This MUST include the
full headers of the Email as well as the text of the message.
Next, paste that clipboard text into the empty text box on the SpamCop website.
Then click the "Process Spam" button.
There will be a short period while the
spam is processed and you will be taken to a new screen which details the source of the spam and who will receive any complainst and notifications.
This is the most important part of the process.
At this stage you can still cancel the
report. This might be the preferred course of action if you discover it was a legitimate message after all. Or you might cancel if your own
IP address is listed as the source - you don't want to report yourself.
You can decide not to send reports to all the listed Email addresses. Uncheck any check-boxes to stop reports going to a particular recipient.
The SpamCop parsing process includes this manual review stage to help reduce the number of erroneous reports and to improve the reliability of the reporting process.
You can review the reports that will be sent by clicking the Preview Reports button.
Cancel does what it claims and should be used if you are uncertain about the report.
When you are happy that the report should be sent, simply click the "Send Spam Report(s) Now" button.
