"Too much data" with mailhosts

Here's a spam, well under 50K, that can not be reported by a paying SpamCop account with Mailhosts configured, using VER, unless a sufficient number of reports of spamvertised web sites are un-checked.

The same spam can be reported successfully using a free account with no mailhosts configured.

For such a short spam, it sure generates lots of reports! Oodles and scads of reporting addresses, and unless several of the pre-checked reports are un-checked, the reports can not be submitted.

It appears as though the "Too much data" error complaining about submitting a spam larger than 50K is a misleading message. In other words, the problem is the cumulative size of the generated reports (as in "Preview reports"), not the spam itself.

But the problem does not arise on a SpamCop account on which Mailhosts have not been set up, reporting the very same spam.

Yup, I was able to report it successfully by un-checking some of the reports that the parser decided to send based on spamvertized web sites. I un-checked a few, submitted, got the error; click Back in my browser, un-check a few more reports, submit again. Loop until it finally went through successfully.

That tracker now shows the result of the [eventually] successful submission.

If I leave all SpamCop's pre-checked reports, and add checkmarks to send reports to uce[at]ftc.gov, netpiracy[at]spa.org, and a user notification to piracy[at]microsoft.com, I get the Too Much Data error.

Of course, an inconvenience now is that until I either submit or cancel that queued but unreported spam shown by the tracker, I can't process any other spams which have been submitted for processing. Currently there is no way to "skip over" a spam in the reporting queue. So no more spam reporting for a while...

Let me know when you're done looking at that queued but unreported spam, so I can flush the queue. Thanks!

No, that's an older one which eventually was reported successfully by un-checking reports until it went through. The one that was choking the queue of unreported spam was this one:

That one has also been reported now, by un-checking enough boxes, so that I could process the spam messages that had been queued for reporting behind that one. I'll let you know when it happens again.
