zachariah
Access to via IMAP, and to the VER (http://www.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog and http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/) is really slow. When I submitted spam for deletion and queuing for reporting I got this error: Gateway Timeout The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server. hmmm, just tested for the 6th time and seems to be not as slow -- almost normal again. I guess I'll leave this post in case it comes back again.
Wazoo
Just a side-note, there was a product out there that was popular enough to garner its own FAQ entry ... AdSubtract .... http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/366.html
zachariah
I'm not sure what you're getting at with your post. I am not running a proxy, or adsubtract (etc.). The error message was from spamcop.net -- instead of seeing the page that the spam had been queued it showed a page with that message as the body of the web page. everything seems fine right now, though
turetzsr
Hi, Wazoo, ...Pls consider moving this the the Email forum, since it seems to have nothing to do with the Reporting System. ty
zachariah
I got the error while trying to report spam at http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/ how is that not related to the Reporting System?
turetzsr
I got the error while trying to report spam at http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/ how is that not related to the Reporting System? 13593[/snapback] ...In your original post, you wrote: Access to via IMAP, and to the VER (http://www.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog and http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/) is really slow Access via IMAP and the VER are the email system, not the reporting system. IMHO, the fact that you were executing the reporting function within e-mail does not make this a question about the SpamCop reporting system but rather a question about (reporting via) the SpamCop e-mail system. Just my opinion, though.
zachariah
I must be confused, I thought that the VER was the Reporting System. I called it the wrong thing. I was trying to report spam at http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/ -- so whatever that's called. On the other hand, I suppose that the slowness from IMAP as well did indeed indicate that this was a SpamCop e-mail system issue instead. Not that any of this matters since the problem only lasted like 15 minutes. But at least I'll have my terminology right next time.

You had a problem with the SpamCop e-mail system (http://mailsc.spamcop.net). The reporting system is accessed either from the web-based submission page (http://www.spamcop.net/) or by submitting spam via e-mail (sendto: submit.<16charCode>[at]spam.spamcop.net). ...A bit confusing, eh? <g>
zachariah
http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/ uses .htaccess authentication to let you login to the "web-based submission page" and is the same exact area as is accessed at http://www.spamcop.net/ when you login using cookies. right? That would suggest that there is a problem either with the mailsc server or with the server to which it's trying to communicate or with something in-between. Unless you've tried unsuccessfully to connect to the reporting server directly, I don't see justification for assuming a Reporting problem. But we've already spent 10 times longer on where to post than the small mistake (if, indeed, it was a mistake -- you may be correct!) is worth. <g>
