Good afternoon!
SpamCop service received a complaint about the mailing campaign, sent from the site www.cosmetic-industry.com. The text of your message is at the end of this letter.
Please, read the information about us that will convince you that we do not sent spam.
www.cosmetic-industry.com is an electronic version of our printed magazine "Raw Materials & Packaging". The subject of our publication is technology and production of cosmetics, household chemicals and its packaging (see: https;//cosmetic-industry,com/en/reliz-3-v-1).
Thus, we are oriented, first of all, towards a narrow circle of specialists. Our audience is not a mass.
Our mailing campaign contains only links to materials published on our site. The list of mailing addresses does not exceed 5000 and is rarely updated.
Also, there is a button "Stop Emails" in the body of the mailing campaign there which allows a recipient to stop receiving emails.
All emails, received our mailing campaign, were taken directly from the industry specialists themselves at private meetings and specialized events or through a subscription on our website.
In connection with all the above, we consider unreasonable complaint and ask you to cancel it.

Kindly ask you to reply to this post, as the hosting, where our website is located, requires us to solve this situation.

Hello Alexey,

this is a user supported forum, but we'll try to help as well as we can.

it seems that your system doesn't have "double opt-in". this means, that when the user subscribes, you send a short message to the email address provided asking the subscriber to confirm (preferably not via email but via web-link or to enter a code sent) that they want the subscription to your list. if they do not react within a certain amount of time, you discard the address and leave it at that. do not keep on asking for confirmation, as that constitutes spamming too. also, if the user changes the email address, you do the same, send a message to the new address asking for confirmation via link or by entering a code. this way, you can make sure that someone who is trying to frame you, can not succeed. also, keep a log of the subscription requests and the messages where the replies come from (IP addresses) there could be a possibility that someone is adding "innocent" email addresses to your list, and with this method you can make sure that you're not getting in trouble.

personally, if I receive unwanted mail (spam, ube, uce) I do not click on links. I report it.  if the spammer keeps sending me requests to confirm my subscription, they are spamming me. if they sent the request once, and don't send me any more requests, then they can easily explain to their provider the way their system works, and if someone is trying to get you in trouble, you can follow up on recent attempts to subscribe (if the same IP address appears to be subscribing many email addresses, you can explain to your provider the situation and even block the IP address attempting to subscribe...

you might have to clean out your address DB now, since you don't know who of the 5000 is the one that didn't want to be subscribed.

hope this helps

Alexey,

I have irritated a number of spammers in over two decades, who knowing my address, place such address on any list that does not do the "double opt-in".  since spammers have been using the "unsubscribe" option for many decades (as well as trying to look the CAN-spam legitimate), I will not click such a button if I did not sign up.  I will also take special care to note which ones I do sign up so I never report those.  I would add that hopefully those "industry specialists" do not make a mistake and type an address wrong, which means the wrong person was added.

The SpamCop block list is a dynamic list that requires several examples for an IP to be added to the list, UNLESS an emails is sent to a secret spam-trap.  In any case, an IP address will come off the SCBL after a given time if no more reports are received.

You can check SpamCop Block List to see if your email server's IP address is on the list.  You can also check Browseable map of IPv4 netspace to get a view of your overall reputation.
