Can't get into Held Email folder

stripey

Recommended Posts

I can't get into my held email folder today. I just get the message "Cannot log into IMAP mailserver as stripey[at]spamcop.net"

Is there some temporary glitch in the system or is there some problem with my account?

I guess that there is as I have the same issue :-)

http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog/

gives me the error message, starting this morning:

Cannot log into IMAP mailserver as <nobody>[at]spamcop.net

---

more info:

I tried closing browser window, and re logging-in (I don't use the cookies method), and still same problem.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

----

Now I looked at:

http://alpha.cesmail.net/graphics/spamstats.gif

and I don't see any dropoff -- so it may be me personally. I have been a member for years, and only ever seen this when others have the problem. I can see my held mail from my webmail account and can log in just fine there.

-----

Now I tried to log-in with cookies, and still same problem. Also "<nobody>" above is of course my username just anonymized.

Yes, I am also affected by the outage, and it makes my life a little more complicated this morning, but not to the point of attacking those who are trying to help me. The system has only been down a few hours. It takes time to resolve issues, so please, let's not make this an attack on the powers that be, let them do their work.

For a second there I thought my post was deleted (nope, just moved) -- shouldn't there be a message in the "SpamCop Help" forum about this issue (maybe even rather than "Spamcop Email")? -- since that's the appropriate forum, as this is a reporting issue, not a webmail issue.

I normally check the newsgroups first, but I am in the process of re-setting up my machine and didn't have a newsreader set up. Now I do and I found the message below.

Is it true that the New web-based forums are now the primary method for getting help?

From: "Jeff G."

Newsgroups: spamcop.mail,spamcop,spamcop.help

Subject: VER "Cannot log into IMAP mailserver"

Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2004 08:57:37 -0500

This problem is only with the VER interface at

http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog - please try using your

Held Mail Folder from Webmail instead.

An Admin has been paged.

This problem only affects SpamCop Email System Customers, therefore this is the appropriate forum. I verified the problem, paged an Admin, crafted and posted the Announcement and references to it here and on the newsgroups, and then merged zachariah's Topic into this one because his was misplaced and discussed the same problem.

Per http://mailsc.spamcop.net/forum.shtml "New web-based forums are now the primary method for getting help." My newsgroup sig is trying to get the word out.

Same problem here... it was working OK at about 1200 GMT (now 1430 GMT).

I can see my heldmail in webmail... but I seem to be only able to "quick report" from there. Is this correct ? Or have I missed something obvious ?

Thanks,

Malcolm

If I click on the "Held Mail" icon it merely takes me to <http://www.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog> where I get the "Cannot log into IMAP mailserver..." message. But if I use the drop-down menu in the top-right corner it goes to <http://webmail.spamcop.net/...> and displays the held mail where I can view, report and delete it. Confusing.

The problem for me is that I don't normally use webmail because it does not display well on my PDA browser. The other method, which I take it is called VER (Very Easy Reporting), displays Ok. If the shift is to webmail, the designers need to design a PDA-friendly version or this customer will walk.

Just thought I'd add that I, too, am affected by this outage. I'm glad that it's a "global" problem and therefore, hopefully, will be fixed soon. The benefit of a BB like this is that we can check if others are having the same problem before bugging the spamcop guys :-)

Actually, you can submit the messages in the Held Mail older of webmail for full reporting by clicking on the Forward link and entering your submit.X adderss. This was the only way to report (full and quick) until the recent addition of Whitelist and Quick Report.
