Bot smacked the crap out of one site, but following up that hit, found this great web-sure (>) with no data, links are coded in as blanks .... Checking server [whois.crsnic.net] Results: CRSNIC has no information for that domain. http://www.canufly.net/~georgegg/dns/ times out on all searches Google search got even stranger data ... http://forums.seochat.com/archive/t-15665 .. they don't seem to date their postings ..??? http://forums.seochat.com/t15665/s.html has more of a GUI, same posts but from back in May/June of 2004 http://www.gidforums.com/t-3788.html has a thread from back in October http://www.clickmojo.com/more/151_0_1_0_M/ appears to suggest issues on par with the Cyveillance bot )though noting that this one seemd to at least look at the robots.txt file and seemed to honor it.) It's also being reported by lots of others. We've been getting hits from there since October. I first checked it back then and it was saying "Coming Soon" just as it is now. Although they did pull my robots.txt (and honor it from what I can tell). Which is more than I can say for the idiots at Cyveillance. steveu Posted March 13, 2006 Share Posted March 13, 2006 I am Steven Urciuoli and I own Faxo and e2e Partners. We do not do spam or sell mined data nor are we doing any DNS tricks. I'm sorry if the initial faxobots (last year) overloaded your site. This only happened to sites hosting multiple domains under one IP. We have since updated the bots to sequentially crawl by physical location thus fixing this problem. The DNS confusion might have arrived from the fact that we are crawling the web with a farm of non-static DSL and cable connections. This allows us the ability to save on bandwidth costs for download data by an order of ten, thus freeing our expensive lines for pure upload/web serving. I hope this clears up any misconceptions.
