Handled by email...

I think the "************" business might be a firewall problem.  I suspect it's hiding your email address from us.

Of all the hare-brained, misguided...

I suggest that Kev/Equalliser complain longly and loudly to NTL about such a restriction on its browsing capabilities, which restriction may be a breach of their contractual relationship.

31392

*GASP* And I was assuming that Equalliser was doing that to munge her/his e-mail address! I guess the old adage about "assume" is true! :) <g>

Not sure what data Don might be working with, but ... the second PM had account data / e-mail address showing in the clear .. As said, I used that data to login from a laptop here, showing that the account was active .... E-mail sent to that address has been responded to, albeit via a GMail account .... Don's e-mail to me stated that the "new" account had been set up and had in fact had some MailHost data associated with it .... so in all honesty, I'm still struggling with "the problem" ... even considering the "bounce/rejection" of a previous e-mail from the SpamCop, there is still no justificarion for an "invalid address" error at the points being referenced.

Odd that when you posted this, the "first" Topic in the list of Topics was titled "Ntworld.com" .. yet you made a "new" post about an issue with ntworld.com .... Merged this "new" post into the one that existed ....

Please offer the background on the "from when ...." situation ... timeframe, problem, resolution, etc. Based on the discussion in the last day "here" and your "new" additional fact about a history .... it sounds like there could be a lot to the story ... could point to the FAQ here about ISPs filtering your outgoing, but you're pointing at incoming ....????

PM sent to advise of move/merge of the post.

Hi

Thanks guys for all the help, I have emails from Don and replied, he suggested cookies? I have not changed my settings so I think this would have to be a bug in firefox. I tried logging in at members.spamcop to avoid cookies and it let me into my account.

my cookie settings are

cookies.jpg

I did have spamcop in the exceptions, took it out and still no joy.

I cleared all cookies and still nothing, like I said before I store all passwords and sites in firefox so I know I did not change anything

any suggestions, I have emailed this to Don

thanks

Kev

ps. all other sites requiring cookies have not been affected since I lost access to spamcop. I also tried unclicking the 'originating website only' still nothing.

If you want to use a cookie exception for free/paid reporting using http://www.spamcop.net (not for SpamCop Email System Accounts) in Firefox, please do the following in Firefox:

 • Select the "Tools" Menu Item to open the Tools Menu.
 • Select the "Options" Submenu Item to open the Options Window.
 • If necessary, use the Scrollbar on the right side to find the "Cookies" Section.
 • If there is a plus-sign icon to the left of the "Cookies" Section, click on it to open the "Cookies" Section.
 • Click on the "Exceptions" Button to open the Exceptions Window.
 • Type or paste "www.spamcop.net" without quotes into the "Address of web site:" Textbox. This has to be exact, "spamcop.net" won't cut it.
 • Click the "Allow" Button to Allow Cookies for www.spamcop.net.
 • Click the "OK" Button to close the Exceptions Window.
 • Click the "OK" Button to close the Options Window.

I've FAQified this info at FAQ Entry: Firefox Cookie Exception for Reporting.

Check your 'sent mail' to make sure the missing submissions were actually sent to the correct 'submit' address.

If further submissons go missing, there's nothing for it but to contact your service provider and ask them why mail to your 'submit' address is not being delivered.

If you can contrive to alter the Subject line of both your submission message and the spam itself by replacing them with a unique code/date/time stamp for each submission, your ISP will have a better chance of figuring out what's going on. It will also be easier for you to see which submissions are getting to your account and which are not.

FAQ here has been updated

Thanks!
guess now other browser configurations need attention to flush that but out

I did one for IE. People who use other browsers than Firefox and IE and other OS's than Windows are welcome to add. :) Edited by Jeff G.

Hi Thanks

Like I said in my post I had this already set and I tried it with the settings

cookies.jpg

I just followed the instructions and 'allowed' www.spamcop.net and it still does not work.

I have cookies allowed from any site, so I can't see why it is now blocking, I always had spamcop in 'allow' anyways, but then it stopped working, maybe I should get on to the firefox forum?

thanks for the help.

EDIT: Wazoo removed the 'expanded' quote of a previous post ....

The screen shot is nice, but it does not give the whole picture.

Have you checked the exception list and understand how it works?

Your previous post stated that you had SpamCop in the execption list then took it out. With accept cookies checked, could the exeception list you were using be for not allowing cookies? But what may be more important is the following thought.

Do you have any other background programs running like Sypware Doctor, or a number of others that may have an impact on how cookies are handled.

Additionally there is the firewall issue that can also have an impact.

Hi

Yes I have other programs but I have them configured right, however, I will check that these are still set right. I have tried all combinations in firefox and like I said it always worked until recently

thanks

Is there any particular reason you'd rather use cookies and http://www.spamcop.net rather than http://members.spamcop.net?  Thanks!

31413

No I don't need cookies I just couldn't get the account to work, but yes the problem is now solved because I will login has you suggest, it is obvious now that it is at my end although may be confusing. I will allow all cookies in any programs checking them and will report back.

thanks

Have you tried deleting the spamcop.net cookies you do have and tried to start again, re-creating the cookies when you do?

Hi

Yes I have and I have all programs (zonealarm, xp) etc too accept cookies, I am not frightened of cookies. by the way my new account with msn addy works so therfore it must not be cookies?

I will do what Don said in his last post

Thanks

Hi

Yes I have tried all these options, and like I said my msn account worked but wouldnt let me add NTL in mailhosts and my NTL email account I could not access, it cannot be a configuration problem with my computer if one works and the other does not?

I have some more emails from Don trying too resolve this, but like I said I can just login with 'member' addy

Thanks

Kev

The confusing part for all of us is that Wazoo WAS able to login with the information you provided him.

Good luch getting it all to work.

Sure, Wazoo wasn't behind what appears to be NTL's paranoid proxy.

***Update***

We found out my problem was not cookies, firewall etc etc. However I have had same problems elsewhere when using NTL emails addy's.

Some sites that ask for an email addy return a fault saying not a valid email addy, and say the email should be something like (sombody[at]com) this is a problem with a few of my NTL email addy's and the one I used when I reported this problem is one of them.

Can anyone tell me if the form I fill in checks the email addy or is it just saying it does not see it has an email that is valid, if it checks then it does it very quickly.

That is why I could not log into my account because spamcop could not recognise my email and was saying it was an invalid email addy

any ideas at this rate it is back too my hotmail account.

thanks

Kev

ps. on some sites one NTL email addy works and then others don't.
