Dropping the link happens some of the time. See the other posts in this topic. Dealing with link obfuscation is just the first stage of the process, then tracking down the IP address and owner of the site is another matter. The parser doesn't have a lot of resource (time) to devote to that. In this instance it *might be* a Deputy's decision rule based on the supposed futility of reporting to geocities.

Spamvertized link tracking is not the primary role of SC, much to the annoyance of some members. There's a FAQ on the "philosophy" but here is the discussion that spawned the FAQ entry if you are interested in the range of thought surrounding the issue SpamCop reporting of spamvertized URLs, Viewpoint(s).

Some further comments inserted by the parser in the analysis chain to say why the search has been halted would certainly be nice to avoid confusion IMO. It is impossible to be sure as things stand (and ambiguity is bad, not readily distinguishable from program failure) but I think you can be confident you're not doing something "wrong".

Hello,

I've been recieving a lot of spam lately containing geocities.com URL's, which then when clicked, load to geocities then redirect to another site.

However, when reporting the emails, none of the geocities.com sites get reported to abuse[at]yahoo-inc.com .

Does anyone know why this is?
