Steve
I received a spam email and processed it through spamcop.net. Also, sorry if I posted the whole link parse. The link below [after spamcop determined the details of it] was not able to give me an email address that would accept the link to be reported. Instead I got this: Re: https://www.celebmashup.com/index2.html (EXPERTS ONLY: SpamCop deputy will review this website.) Internal spamcop handling: (appeals) http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z1333733145z6...3e5809bc2d36bez [this tracking link does not include this]: (EXPERTS ONLY: SpamCop deputy will review this website.) This tracking link below does include Re: https://www.celebmashup.com/index2.html (EXPERTS ONLY: SpamCop deputy will review this website.) Internal spamcop handling: (appeals) If I wanted to report the above link to the spamcop Deputy, how would I go about doing that since an email address was not displayed to send a report about this link to the Spamcop Deputy. I realize I received this email on Monday, 6/18. Note that I don't check the AOL account [nyanks32685[at]aol.com] that this was sent to very often. I obviously missed it if I didn't check the account for spam email a few days after I had received this email. Hope this is specific enough for you guys. Miss Betsy
I am not an expert on spamvertized links because IMHO, it is a waste of time to report them. However, what has happened, I believe, is that the ISP of the link has said that they do not want to receive reports about it. To send emails (including spamcop reports) to people who do not want them is called unsolicited email and unsolicited email is spam so spamcop stops sending reports. The reason the ISP asked for the spamcop reports to stop may be that the ISP does not intend to do anything. It could also mean that the parser has picked the wrong ISP to notify. It could also mean that somebody is including that site in spam to harm the owner of the website. The reason that 'only experts' are requested to deal with spamvertized websites is because the way you find out whether the website is really the spammer website is extremely complicated to non-experts and requires the use of several tools to traceroute and such. If you don't know how to contact a deputy, then you are definitely not expert enough to add anything useful to the discussion so don't worry about it. Wazoo
In general, as Miss Betsy has stated, the ISP involed has set a flag that they do not wnat to receive reports. Looking at your spam submittal, it is seen that technically, there is no 'direct' link between the spam content and this included 'signature' link. What caiught my eye was the https:// part of the URL. The bottom line here is that ISP involved has no control over what these spammers insert into their spam. Th 90-day history against that URL includes six reports dating between June 7 - 11 .... My "personal" opinion .. this is part of the "review before submitting" process. If it was me, that checkbox would have been cleared prior to hitting the Submit button. I am going to change the Subject line of this Topic .... Spamcop Deputy simply doesn't portray anything .....
