Even forwarding spam to spamcop from within webmail (for full reporting) has had problems in the past, but I must say, in the last couple of minths (since the upgrades were announced) I have not had one problem using that function.

Which upgrades? My wife (using IE on a Win2k machine) had trouble today, trying to send a resume (a time when it needs to work ...).

This is so annoying...I usually use Webmail to chek personal email from work, I've also used it many times in the past to send resumes....now I'm starting to wonder if many times my resumes never went through. I just realized the attachment problem a few weeks ago when somebody actually replied (surprised they took the time, I wouldn't have) to tell me my resume file never went through.

I've red the thread and seems that nobody has a definite answer for this problem...in my book, having a "flaky" attachment feature is a big NO-NO, and unless I find a solution for this, I'm definately not renewing my subscription to the service.

If anyone can figure this one out, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks! :)

-Valeria.

Well, since most of us here are simply other users of the service, we do not have that type of access to the system. If this is a problem for you (it would for me if I was currently seeing it), please contact support<at>spamcop.net with any specific instances (time sent etc) so JT can parse his logs and possibly see what happened.

If you would be so kind, please report back here any progress made.

Thank you

P.S. Don't get caught sending resumes from work. I know part of my job at work is to monitor everyone's internet activity and you would be surprised what some people do using employer's resources.

Just a quick comment... I've never gotten attachments of any kind of file to work properly. I've tried .txt, .jpg, .gif, .zip, etc., and while it appears to be attaching it and says it did, the recipient never gets it.

On the rare occasions when I did want to send on some attachement, I did save it to my hard drive and then send it on using Eudora (which is how I send all messages that require an attachment).

I haven't worried about it too much because I don't really send attachments that often that it's an issue for me, but I'm sure it's quite frustrating for many others.

Next time I have occasion to send an attachment or when I have some time to mess around with testing it, I'll note the times and circumstances and send them on to support so they can look at it.

Don't wait till next time. Send a message to yourself with an attachement and use that result to help get the problem fixed. Don't wait until you need it and find that it still does not work.

I have the same problem with attachments. Whether using IE or Mozilla for the webmail service I've rarely been able to send an attachment reliably. I don't know what might be causing the problem. I do get the message/dialog/prompt which says I've sent the attachment. In fact, I send a test attachment to service[at]spamcop.net and was advised that it came through!

I do not have this problem using the Mozilla (Netscape) e-mail client, just the web interface; and it appears to happen both from home and from work.

I'm communicating with users at all levels, so I can't believe none of them know who to discern whether they are receiving an attachment or not. I'm quite baffeled.

Would be willing to do a test with someone, perhaps someone who has both Outlook, OE, and some other client whereby we could see if that made any difference.

As far as testing things, why not generate or use a HotMail ot Yahoo account and CC: a copy of one of these that's going to someone else ... then compare notes on what you sent, what you saw at your other account, and what the recipient actuallly received ...????

How big are the attachments you are sending and how many are attached?

I just did three separate tests

1st test with two attachments 1[at] 211kb; and 1[at] 910kb

message was received but attachments were missing

2nd test with one attachment 67kb - this one was received OK

3rd test with six small attachments totalling 148.5kb - this was also received OK

Still not working. <_<

Tried it several times.

Why has this not been fixed? Seems this has been going on for a while...

Please post the size and number of attachments you are sending. This seems to the problem area that needs to be worked on and we need help identifying the exact breaking points. Note: this is my second request for this information

...Just to make explicit something that may not be apparent to you: none of the participants in this thread have anything to do with fixing problems with the SpamCop e-mail service, we are just SpamCop users.

...It seems to me (although I myself am NOT a user of the SpamCop e-mail service, only the reporting service) from reading the posts in this thread that most of the problems seem to have either been resolved or otherwise gone away, so (in my naivete, no doubt) I would have to conclude that it is not true that there is an identified "bug" that "has been going on for a while..." and that one would therefore expect to have been fixed. :) <g>

Tried it several times.

You tried "what" several times. Hey, I'll be blunt here ... strange coincidence that I was in the middle of generating a new document, debating whether I should simply add one link (some language issues with that authoer stressing a point or two) ... anyway, the subject basically being "how do I get answers to a Tech Question" ... and here your response so neatly fits into the "aint nobody going to talk to you" scenario ... This Topic goes on for days, many things discussed, suggested, queried, but somehow this "tried it several times" comment is obviously referenced to something and "we" are supposed to "know" just what that is specifically ...??? If you'd read through the existing stuff, one would think that you'd catch wind of the little things needed like OS, application, type of file/extension, whether you had done any other type of testing using other resources, say to verify that the receiving ISP isn't stripping any and all attachments for instance ... on and on ....

Why has this not been fixed? Seems this has been going on for a while...

And with a gazillion users, why is it that there aren't but this handful of "problems" ..??? One reason could be that there are only a couple of "you" out there that treat e-mail as something other than simple e-mail, but on the other hand, there are a number of posts in here that say things are working just fine ... Pray tell how do "we" get to resolving your problem based on "it's broke" and "tried it several times" ????

Yeah, I'm being blunt and harsh, but hey, this Topic is numerous "page" displays long, full of discussion points ... that there is a major lack of detail offered is simply too much of an issue to ignore.

I just used Webmail to send a 50-byte test text file to an account I have on another domain. The file went through 10 times out of 10. 4 of those times I used the "Back" button on my browser (IE6SP1) and refreshed to try to save some time.

In the past 4 days I have not been able to send any attachments through webmail. The attachments are stripped from the email and the email is sent without the attachment. I have tried gifs, jpgs, .pdf, word files and more. Attempts have been made with one attachment at a time with file sizes from 15kb to 200kb. We aren't talking some 10MB attachments here, just simple everyday stuff.

Please help.

Thanks, I have read that thread and nothing in there has helped me. Everything was working super last week and then this week it stopped working. nothing has changed for me. Same ISP, same OS, same everything. I have tried Windows 2000, XP, and 2003 Server. I am always using IE 6.0 or greater.

Up until this week i have had zero problems and I have sent many hundreds of attachments in the past few months.

Thanks,

Trent

Hi, Trent,

...Well, what I was expecting you to get out of reading the thread (besides my having the opportunity to drop a hint to our illustrious forum moderator, Wazoo, to consider merging this new thread into that one) is that there really isn't likely to be any help forthcoming. In some cases, the problem seems to have gone away by itself (see, for example, bonni's post), in some cases it was never resolved (see, for example, svanslyck's post), in some cases further information was requested but never posted (see, for example, dbiel's request for more information) but in most cases it worked (either first time every time or eventually). There being no apparent commonality for the few who are left unable to forward attachments, I don't see how this is ever going to be resolved soon. But you're doing your part by posting your information. :) <g>

...By the way: are you able to send attachments (that you are unable to send when you use SpamCop's e-mail service) when you use your ISP's "native" e-mail interface without SpamCop?

I just logged into webmail and sent a message with two images attached to it without any problems. Perhaps you already know that in addition to choosing the desired attachment(s) in the "File1" etc. part of the message composition window, that you must then also click on the blue "Attach" button over to the right-hand side? If you don't do that, the attachments don't actually get attached. This multi-step process is not all that intuitive...in most other clients, you simply select the attachments and then Send.

Oh yeah, "merge" was an immediate thought / action .... more driven by the fact that I saw Jeff G in here today and he'd even added to "this" Topic, stating that his quick tests (though small files) worked just fine. So it was amazing to come in and see the "hasn't worked for the last 4 days" ....

Stil amazed that this is the second poster in this area that states all has been read, but not much factual and explicit data is offered in the "complaint" ... In this case, some items are mentioned, but .. what has 2003 Server got to do with trying to send an attachment via web-mail? For that matter, Windows 2000 and/or XP isn't really the major issue ... One could make an assumption that all the operating systems (and applications) mentioned might imply different computers in use, but ... that might also lead into a configuration of the network involved (another assumption that these systems are co-located)

I seem to recall Horde having a support Forum, but also seem to remember that I found nothing on the last problem I tried to research on that app ... no promises, but have a note here to dig around there sometime later tonight ... until then, we're back to waiting to see if the original poster makes it back here .. (another PM before I forget)
