Recommending site for IB status

got a Stock advisory spam (tracking URL: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z783566562z59...4cd7b9caba8589z)

innocent bystander in the spam, www.sipc.org, was listed as a reportable link. From past discussion ( http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=317 ) it seems that it falls on the IB to get themselves added to the IB list. Is this the only way, or can it be recommended by a user? (I.e., I'd be recommending it in this case.)

...FWIW, if I were such an IB, I would want to receive reports so that I was aware that my good name was being besmirched in this manner. This is especially so since I would not be in danger of being added to the blocklist, as I would not be being reported as the source of the spam but merely as a spamvertized site. Therefore, I would not be pleased if someone were to add me, without my permission, to a list that might keep me from receiving such reports.

Technically, something like this deals with manipulation of the database. The newsgroup news://news.spamcop.net/spamcop.routing was set up just for this type of data / request. One would provide all data concerned, suggested changes, and some justification .. intent on allowing the collection of the two or three people with the "power" to make changes to do all research from that post.

Technically, the wrong spot for this, but ... background on the humor is the current situation in the newsgroups. There are a number of folks that have me "plonked" / kill-filed as "I am trying to kill the newsgroups" by the repeated suggestion to "look at the Forum FAQ" ... It is well documented "over there" that I "never" send anyone in that direction. <g> The addtion of links to the newsgroups at the top of the Forum page didn't seem to have any effect. The links to the Archives of the newsgroup traffic apparently don't count either, as they also are web-based links, rather than the direct NNTP connection.

The current issue with the (yet another) attempt at a whole new strategem of the page being worked at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?act=home is thus far devoid of any input from these same folks, some of which themselves suggested a "web page with links" ...??? It is assumed that most of these folks that have me kill-filed are noting that the URL contains the "forum" word, thus it's obvious that I'm being devious again and still working to kill the newsgroups <g>

I still think one of the funiiest responses is posted at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?...indpost&p=29959 ....

Thanks for the defense, but the truth is, I laughed ...
