StevenUnderwood Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Since we are always dealing with providers that don't get it, I would like to call out one that does, Jangomail as seen in this reply. They understood the issues and given the evidence they took a reasonable step in my opinion. Dear Steven: We have contacted our customer, Market2Lead Inc., about your spam complaint. Manny Rane, from Market2Lead Inc., responded: The guy who complained about being spammed was secured from ProspectDB. According to their policy they contact the folks to verify info (which saves our sales folks a lot of leg room). As stated they obtained the names "legally, ethically, and in compliance with all laws and regulations." So, this should fall into your guidelines. JangoMail has notified Market2Lead Inc. that such a response is unacceptable, and has been ordered to cease using purchased lists in contravention of JangoMail policies immediately. This is the only complaint that we have received for Market2Lead Inc., which indicates their use of purchased lists is recent. Additionally, they provide the required information in each of their messages so you can unsubscribe from future mailings, should you choose not to receive their mail in the future. In light of these facts, we have placed our customer on probation to ensure they stop using purchased lists rather than terminating their account. Of course, your address has been removed from their mailing list, as you no longer wish to receive these messages. We do take spam complaints very seriously, and we are monitoring our customer to ensure they stop mailing to purchased lists immediately. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reply back to me. Sincerely, Chris Goetzke chris[at]us.jangomail.com JangoMail Postmaster 888-709-4099 Support Line 937-558-0768 Direct

turetzsr Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Maybe I jumped the gun on the good thoughts ...Indeed. Also note the invitation to violate "best practice" of not unsubscribing from services to which you have not subscribed:<snip> Additionally, they provide the required information in each of their messages so you can unsubscribe from future mailings, should you choose not to receive their mail in the future. <snip> And note the listwashing, not a good thing:Of course, your address has been removed from their mailing list, as you no longer wish to receive these messages. On balance, a bit clueless, IMHO.
