[Resolved] Is Spamcop mail having problems today?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday when I left my computer everything was working fine. This morning I did not have any new emails (which is very unusual) so I logged into spamcop mail and there was nothing there, I then logged into my ISP webmail and had a bunch of new mail on the server but spamcop is not popping it.

I have made no changes to my computer or settings and everything was fine last night..

Just wondering if anyone else is having any problems..

Thanks

I'm missing about 33% of my email and have since yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. I have all my email set to go to two places -- one routes through Spamcop, and the other routes through Gmail. There are emails making it to Gmail that simply aren't showing up via Spamcop. The ones going into Spamcop are disappearing into the ether. They're not held. They're just not anywhere. This has happened a few times in the past, and eventually Spamcop wakes up and the emails come late. Hopefully someone over there can kick a server and get the emails delivered.

I have to admit this is getting really frustrating. Spamcop used to be a lot more reliable.

I forgot to mention that there are no emails in my held mail, I did just get 3 out of 30 sitting on the server, they are not making it to or through the spamcop system. Hopefully someone can check it out and get things flowing again.....

I'm definitely seeing some emails go to held mail. But a lot of email just isn't coming through -- either held or to my pop account. Kind of frustrating since some gets through and some doesn't. And a lot of the stuff not getting through is important mail. Good thing I checked my Gmail account and saw them -- because I don't usually do that.

Ditto here... I am losing email - interestingly, I'm losing email originating from gmail.com - I opened a support case ID 40587 with the following detailed report about 3 known email messages that did not make it to cqmail.net servers...

See below:

----

There is evidence that several of my incoming mail destined to indra[at]cqmail.net has failed to arrive in teh mailbox. My mail addressed to indra[at]singhal.com is simulcast by GoDaddy's mail servers at secureserver.net and arrive at yahoo.com and gmail.com but not at indra[at]cqmail.net - since cqmail.net is may production IMAP pickup location, I have missed the mail until the sender called.

When I went to gmail (and yahoo) sure enough the email was there.

X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.936)

I notice that all three missing messages originated from gmail.com addressed to me [at]singhal.com which has its MX records pointing to godaddy. GoDaddy's secureserver.net mail hub sent a copy back out to my yahoo, gmail and cqmail.net addresses BUT the cqmail.net copy never arrived.

Let me know how I can help resolve this problem. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,

\eYEKS

Is there someway to contact someone at spamcop to make sure they are aware of the situation?

I just started getting *some* but not all of the missing mail that had been sent about 12 hours ago. Maybe someone's working through the issue?

Just for the record - you would try any one of:

mail - support[at]spamcop.net

"other account problems" contact in http://mail.spamcop.net/contact.php

"problem" button from member webmail page http://webmail.spamcop.net/horde/imp/

If you get an autoreply no need to try another.

BUT

Apr 5, 2010

* [21:02 EDT] A disk problem on one of the filtering servers has resulted in some mail deliveries being delayed today. The problem has been fixed and all delayed email is currently being delivered. No mail was lost during this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.

YES, it looks like it is coming under control.

Yes the server is now processing through the large backlog of mail and sorting it into user mailboxes so you will see your mails showing up -- no mails were lost. Because most of the mail was showing up it took some testing to determine that there was a problem and then to track it down. Remember if your email app sorts the mail by timestamp you may need to look back in your mailbox to see those mails.

Thanks to the folks who wrote to support[at]spamcop.net and who provided information about what they were seeing.
