System Migration

Recommended Posts

[14:16 EDT] As of now, all email to spamcop.net, cesmail.net, or cqmail.net addresses is being handled and forwarded by Cisco. You MUST have forwarding enabled to continue to receive email. Email stored here can be read and retrieved until October 3. After that, webmail and IMAP will be shut down.

I’m trying to migrate my Spamcop email to my new provider, but I’m getting “incorrect password†errors when I try to access my account over IMAP. (But accessing my account through webmail works fine.)

Are there any known IMAP issues?

IMAP is down for me as well. Looks like I have "password" issues also but webmail login still works.

Probably everyone has seen the answers on other threads, but if not:

1) Yes, the cut-over was early. ?

2) Yes, the form in webmail no longer has the option to set forwarders.

3) Yes, IMAP was killed at the same time as the early cut-over.

Fortunately, there's already an option set up on the reporting page to update:

"Should you wish to discontinue this forwarding or change the address mail is being forwarded

to, you will find a new tab on the SpamCop.net Reporting Service page when logged in allowing

you to do this."

Where "New Tab" == Preferences -> "Change Email address or name"

Unfortunately for me, my forwarding isn't working today (they've been set/working since August 10th, 2014) and all my mail is still bouncing, several hours later. I'd like to think it'll get resolved soon...

I tried the "New Tab" == Preferences -> "Change Email address or name" route and it sends a confirmation email to your Spamcop.net email address. Since those are being dropped you don't get it. So you can't set mail forwarding via this route anymore if you didn't have it setup already.

Please quote the bounce/reject message.

My forwarding is working fine.

It's from MAILER_DAEMON[at]yahoo.com (my ISP uses Yahoo Mail) and I've munged my actual email addresses out.

I tried the "New Tab" == Preferences -> "Change Email address or name" route and it sends a confirmation email to your Spamcop.net email address. Since those are being dropped you don't get it. So you can't set mail forwarding via this route anymore if you didn't have it setup already.

When I used the preferences link last night, it let me change the "send to" address and the "Notify" address and I did and received the confirmation at my new email. Forwarding is not working so far though...

Webmail is working, IMAP isn't. It repeatedly asks for our password. Many of us are having this problem (see this thread). Change the news announcement or please fix IMAP. It's the least you can do, especially in consideration of your refusal to give out prorated refunds.

I never had anything critical to say about SpamCop until this shutdown. And I've been using it for well over a decade now.

Well, I'm one of the idiots that missed the deadline. I've been using my 2 SpamCop emails in "pull mode" Google was grabbing my mail rather than using the forwarding feature of spamcop.net. And all those emails were filtered into folders in GMail.

The box is now missing for setting a forwarding address if I go into the the email account and look at mail settings.

Will I have any opportunity to set a forwarding address in 2 days when the system fully transitions or I'm I totally screwed? Losing 2 days of emails isn't a huge deal for me and a large part of my emails were already transitioned to my personal domain I own.

You do that on the Spamcop.net Preferences page now http://www.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=prefmenu (You'll have to log in there of course)

Thanks. Apparently my 30 minutes of browsing the forum for that info wasn't enough :). I've set them up and 1 test message made it through. The rest seem to be going to /dev/null. I'm guessing I'm now in the group experiencing lost forwards, hehe.

I directed all my mail away from their servers anticipating that there would be issues plus I didn't like the thought of mis-identified mail being obliterated as spam without my say-so. The odd test emails to my cesmail addressI sent over the last 48 hours have all finally made it through apart from some initial bounces.

From now in it's just a reporting service for me, which is what they intended I think.
