Dv_ Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Hi, I have a problem with one of my mail account. Every mail comming from this account submited to Spamcop is rejected, error message is "No source IP address found, cannot proceed". I know that my mail provider (Ovh.net) is using a spam filter, and that tags are added to mails (see the probably spam & all X added to the headers). Is this the reason why I can't submit my mails to spamcop ? Or is there something wrong with something else in the headers ? Thanks for your help. Here is an exemple of the headers rejected by Spamcop (personnal informations are hidden by XXXXX) : Return-Path: <pscgbydr[at]isolv.co.za> Delivered-To: XXXXX Received: (qmail 32145 invoked by uid 505); 16 Aug 2004 05:21:00 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO emailrecorder.com) (201.135.151.137) by mx3.ovh.net with SMTP; 16 Aug 2004 05:20:58 -0000 Received: from max (h00013abe3429.ne.client2.attbi.com [24.61.15.2]) by emailrecorder.com (8.12.9/8.12.7/SUN-2.7) with ESMTP id J87Gz000600671 for <XXXXX>; Mon, 16 Aug 2004 05:00:04 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <596263190839.W8r3uk78XV5b92[at]isolv.co.za> Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2004 05:00:04 -0400 (EDT) Subject: *** PROBABLY spam *** Save up to 50% on the software From: "Abe" <pscgbydr[at]isolv.co.za> To: XXXXX X-Mailer: SquirrelMail/1.4.2 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-Probably-spam-Tag: YES (H 0.763615) X-spam-Check: fait|type 1&3|4.1| X-Remote-Ip: 201.135.151.137 X-Remote-Reverse: X-Virus-Tag: NO X-Filtre-FAQ: Pour ne plus recevoir de spam ou virus, utilisez notre systeme de filtrage ; consultez la FAQ specifique, categorie E-mail.
Derek T Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Before anyone can help we need to know: Exactly how are you submitting your spam? What e-mail client are you using? If forwarding, in-line or as attachment? Unfortunately, this message-board messes up the header info so it is difficult to diagnose a problem from a cut and paste here. Please provide a tracking URL so that we can see the original. Thanks.
Dv_ Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 Thanks for your answer. Exactly how are you submitting your spam? What e-mail client are you using? If forwarding, in-line or as attachment? Most of the time, I submit via MailwasherPro. I've tried the copy/paste method on Spamcop's website (full headers+body), and to forward the mail too (as an attachment, using Outlook Express 6) but both ended with the same results... Ok, no problem, here is one : http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z612613345z7f...c1a76d1e95d5c2z Thanks a lot.

There are those on this forum who are much better than I who may spot something but we'll have to wait for America to wake up For what it's worth, that IP seems to one of hundreds of trojanned machines on a broadband connection in Mexico. Needless to say, no reverse DNS.
Wazoo Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Problem appears to be that you have started reporting spam before completing the mail-host configuration process .... these are the data lines I see in your sample; 0: Received: from unknown (HELO emailrecorder.com) (201.135.151.137) by mx3.ovh.net with SMTP; 16 Aug 2004 05:20:58 -0000 No unique hostname found for source: 201.135.151.137 Possible forgery. Supposed receiving system not associated with any of your mailhosts Will not trust anything beyond this header No source IP address found, cannot proceed. Add/edit your mailhost configuration ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This line woud seem to be your next step to take, if this is the way your e-mail really does flow.
Dv_ Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004    Ohhhhh Shhhhh... !!!! How stupid I am !!!! I really apologize for this, case is closed. Thanks a lot Wazoo !
