art101_v2.0
I've scoured the FAQ and forums, but find no relevant answers. Please point me to any appropriate thread. Relevant links and tips are also appreciated. My current spamcop.net address is polluted by jerkoff harvesters to the point that it's now worse than useless. Consequently, I want to kill my current spamcop.net address and create a new spamcop.net address for my existing account. How do I create a new primary address for my current spamcop account without having to cough up money and time to establish a completely new account? This should be simple and seamless, but it isn't. This should be simple and seamless, but it isn't. 26589[/snapback] a new spamcop address is the same cost as a years subscription for old one? You will have to spend five minutes or so in reseting your new account. Then again it may be as simple as requesting JT via webpage to transfer your setup to a new account. If you do this when the subscription is due it should cost you no more

Relevant links and tips are also appreciated. Swear to the man above, I can't figure out how much plainer I can make it .. I added a "Contact Us" link into the top section of the FAQ here, based on complaints that folks couldn't find the existing links firther on down the page ...???? How do I create a new primary address for my current spamcop account without having to cough up money and time to establish a completely new account? This should be simple and seamless, but it isn't. "Ease" depends on which side of the screen you're on. From JT's side, he's got to find the time to generate your new account, set up the disk space, pointers, links, etc ... then go through and clean up the residue from your old account. And you know as well as anyone, just because the account has been killed, the incoming traffic doesn't stop, so in reality, there's all that future traffic that adds to the load, even if it does get rejected. Making it "super easy" to change account names could lead to one hell of an overload of garbage traffic. Thanks for your reply. It's nice to know I can always count on this forum to provide the answers I'm searching for. Really, I'm not kidding. This is just f*cking great. Thanks again for your time and attention. You've been really helpful. Recalling that you removed yourself from the net once, later requesting that your account here be killed, it's awful hard to read the sarcasm level in this last reply ... Taken at face value, you're more than welcome.

If you ask JT he may, as operator of the Email service, be able or willing to assist. Or, as Petzl, suggested if your renewal is due fairly soon you could simply open a new Spamcop.net Email account in your preferred new name. Whilst it may not have been the answer you wanted I can't see why you feel the need to swear at Petzl who gave a perfectly civil and direct answer. art101_v2.0
Amazing responses to my original post. Amazing. I remember an email exchange with Julian an eon or two ago... way back before Ironport... way back when proactively fighting spam felt like a worthwhile endeavor. I remember telling Julian how pleased I'd be when SpamCop was unneeded and unnecessary. I thought spam was a temporary glitch... birth pains for the most important advance in human communication since Gutenberg invented the printing press way back in 1450. spam is now a bigtime growth industry. It's pretty much the only thing on the 'net that still works. Stupid me. Spammers, pornographers, and racketeers have hijacked the Internet. The federal CAN-spam act, bought and paid for by lobbyists from the Direct Marketing Association, is worse than useless. There's a special place in hell for its congressional authors. Soundbytes from a willing, brain-dead, nutbag corporate media help keep everybody paralyzed. Canceling my current SpamCop account - or even moving it to a clean new SpamCop address - is a major project. It's not just a matter of giving SpamCop more money. It requires backtracking and updating every domain registration record for every client domain I've registered. I was foolish enough to list my SpamCop address as the primary contact for every domain I've registered. I'm an online feeding frenzy for jerkoff email address harvesters. OK. I'll stop now. I'm done. I'm finished. I'm turning off this stupid box and going outside. It's a crisp, cold, clean spring night. There's a gorgeous moon rising over the rooftops beyond my back yard. Tomorrow is a new day, full of hope and promise.
art101_v2.0
Greetings: I've scoured the FAQ and Forums this afternoon... and find no help regarding this question. If it's already covered, pleased point me to an appropriate topic or thread. Thank you. ----- I (naively) used my SpamCop address as the contact email when registering domains for dozens of clients over the past several years. Consequently, it shows up in lots of public whois records and was harvested by spammers. It's now so polluted by the daily spam assault that it's pretty much useless as a viable communication tool. If I felt like taking the time, I could work 24/7 simply reporting the spam that piles up in my SpamCop folders. I actually received a spam today stating that my SpamCop address was in a mailing list of people "who receive spam." The depth of my seething hatred for spammers (and leaky, money-grubbing ISPs in China, South Korea, Brazil, Russia, and Romania) grows exponentially. But I digress. I am in the (long and really annoying) process of changing every public listing on planet Earth which uses my SpamCop address to a throw-away address at a free 'service' like Yahoo. My current SpamCop mail account still has several months paid before it expires. I want to kill my current SpamCop address and get a new one for private, nonpublic use. I want to know if I can somehow switch my SpamCop address to a new SpamCop address and apply the balance of my existing account to the new address. It would also be nice if the address change could be made on the SpamCop side, without me having to start from scratch with a completely new account setup. Obviously, I'll need to change some things on my end, but it would be great if SpamCop could apply my existing balance and account settings to a new SpamCop address with minimum hassle. turetzsr
Hi, art101_v2.0, ...Unless someone comes along with a more specific idea, you could send a request via the SpamCop e-mail "Contact Us" page.
Wazoo
Well, as you can see, I merged this last set of posts into the exact same request/query made months ago. I'm not sure just what Art actually expects "here" ....???? The query hasn't changed, the answers haven't changed, the FAQ still contains data, the 'support' address is all over the place. on and on .... It is a bit odd that in April it was "address being scraped" .... in July it's "I've placed it all over the place" ....????

art101_v2.0
OK. You win. It's interesting how a guy who's on your side of the spam wars becomes a pariah in your eyes. My communication skills clearly need work. Yours too. What we have here, as Lyndon Johnson once said, is a failure to communicate. Whatever... you win. I concede. I'll kill my SpamCop address and never bother you or Julian again. Good luck in your efforts to take back the net from the money-grubbing spammers who highjacked it. http://art101.com
