Farelf
Well, obviously (2,3,4, ... n) spammers are worse than a spammer, but what about the "witty worm" http://www.caida.org/analysis/security/witty/ Sobering to think that the "new internet" could be an enforced fresh start following an extinction event brought about by a more widely ranging worm of similar lethality and rapidity of spread. Old hat now and it hasn't happened yet but who knows? Surprised the conspiracy theorists haven't made more of it. The US military practicing its proactive approach to shutting down enemy communications? Oops, I was forgetting, any such juxtaposition would lead to immediate tagging by Echelon No, I don't really think Wazoo's old mates would actually contemplate anything involving the rest of the planet as colateral damage. Umm ... but then there was the whole MAD thing ... Sorry, that rotten flying car made me do it: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01/25/fl...ar_launch_site/ and, to prove it's no fake: http://maps.google.com/maps?t=k&hl=en&ll=-...33,0.003648&t=k

Also, http://imageatlas.globexplorer.com/ImageAt...4&zoom_level=20 appears to have the flying car on 03-Feb-2004, while it appears not to have the flying car on 11-Jan-2004. Actually I had thought the mystery object might be a parafoil about to thwump down (there are designated water skiing areas both east and west of that point, maybe some DYI parasailing gone wrong). Summer afternoon, there would be a sea breeze out of the west, that would be the most likely direction it came from. The local paper called for guesses yesterday - must get a copy of today's edition and see if anyone 'fesses up.
Jeff G.
Hey, nice sleuthing!39891 Thanks! My theory is that it is a dark-colored vehicle, possibly with an aftermarket matte finish, and that the middle vehicle (that was parked between the dark one and the light one) already drove away. Please see the other dark-colored vehicles parked in the parking lot to its East. Thanks!
Farelf
... My theory is that it is a dark-colored vehicle, ... 39900 Yep, that one got a run but the parachute/parafoil/kite got the most votes (2!) though not based on any particular logic as reported. Nobody claimed specific knowledge (possibly because they weren't able to pick up a date the way you did). Other data - Tue 3 Feb 2004, warm day ~42C/108F, late (~15:00) weak (8 kts) sea breeze from the southwest - middday wind was NNE (therefore hot) at 14 kts, clear (~20 Mi visibility) and dry. The midday wind fits with a parafoil. The truth is out there ... and to think some call this place "Dullsville"
