DavidT
Not sure why nobody else has reported this yet (except that it's a US holiday, so maybe people are away from their computers), but I'm getting errors when trying to access my "spamcop.net" email account via POP, IMAP, and webmail. The POP session error is: >> 0048 -ERR Temporary problem, please try again later and the Webmail error is: Login failed for some reason. Make sure you use your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS as the username. Interestingly enough, I'm able to login to my wife's "cesmail.net" address, which resides on the same sever, AFAIK. It almost makes me think that there's something specifically wrong with just my own SC email address, but I don't know what that could be, in that it was renewed in January and I haven't messed with my password or any other account settings. If anyone else can't access their account, please let me know. DT

ljl
I can't log into my spamcop.net account either. I don't have POP access from this computer, right now, but webmail is definitely down. The "mailsc" server is up, so I can report spam; but I can't read new mail or send mail.
DavidT
Yep...somone in the usenet group reported the same thing....we're all dead in the water. Therefore, the request I sent to <support[at]spamcop.net> probably isn't going to do any good, either. Wazoo????? dbiel
I just logged into webmail with no problem at all. Also had no problems logging into the Reporting side linking to the HeldMail folder via VER.
eox
Same here, but the situation has resolved. Log-in works fine now ... ErikO
DavidT
HEY....it just magically came back to life! I hope there's an explanation soon on the webmail login page about what the heck went wrong. DT I just logged into webmail with no problem at all. If your email account ends in "spamcop.net" and not "cesmail.net" then you just happened to make your login attempt just after the outage....from the quick flurry of "me toos" and people visiting this forum all of the sudden, it's clear that we were ALL down, nobody was "special." :-) Awaiting JT's confession...er, explanation about the cause. Wazoo
Wazoo????? (hope you're around and can call JT) Well, I was here, in a fashion .. but have been on the phone for the last couple of hours dealing with my Mom's medical issues and family updates about that ... On the other hand, I'd sent an e-mail out a while back on a SORBs listing of one of the cesmail servers, JT responded pretty quickly on that, already posted that reply over in the newsgroup thread .... so I'm kind of guessing that he's been on-site, therefore maybe jumping to a re-boot condition going on, based on the time span of problem noted, problem resolved ... have to agree that a 'news' posting would be nice ..... jefft
We were doing upgrades on a couple of the servers. One didn't come back up completely by itself. That means that logins for the users unlucky enough to hit that server might fail. And, it wasn't all users, as some users could login to that server fine. Our monitoring scripts didn't catch it because of the weirdness, so I didn't notice for a few minutes. JT

DavidT
We were doing upgrades on a couple of the servers. One didn't come back up completely by itself. Our monitoring scripts didn't catch it because of the weirdness, so I didn't notice for a few minutes. JT Hmmm....a bit skeptical here, in that a flurry of "unlucky" people quickly showed up in this forum and confirmed that no matter how many times they tried, they couldn't log in. Between POP attempts, IMAP attempts, and webmail attempts, all going to different host names with several different IP addresses, I *was* able to consistently login using my cesmail.net address but *never* using my spamcop.net address. That would seem to contradict JT's explanation, but the outage was brief, so....whatever. BTW, nothing was posted here: http://webmail.spamcop.net/ or here: http://mail.spamcop.net/news.php so the outage must not have met whatever criteria exist for documenting it officially. Wazoo
Hmmm....a bit skeptical here, Probably doesn't matter, but Ieven after the explanation, I'm still comfirtable with my conjectured "re-boot" scenario .... <g> BTW, nothing was posted here: http://webmail.spamcop.net/ or here: http://mail.spamcop.net/news.php so the outage must not have met whatever criteria exist for documenting it officially. Not much I can say there, but between your posting here and in the newsgroups, the postings made here, the newsgroups, and in the Announcements section here by various folks, I'd like to say that 'we' did the best we could do .....
