paul.hunt
I tried to use my Mailhost Configuration for the first time. Although I was logged in, it showed a configuration record for someone else. Is this some sort of sample configuaration record, some SpamCop host record I need to leave in place, or some other thing I haven't thought of? paul.hunt
Where did it show this information? 1. As a MailHost Name, email addsress, etc. 2. As the default email address in the text box when adding a new host.
turetzsr
I tried to use my Mailhost Configuration for the first time. Although I was logged in, it showed a configuration record for someone else. <snip> ...Odd. My "Edit mailhost configuration" screen also shows someone else's information. I think something's broken. I shall report this via the "Contact SpamCop" feedback form. ...Thanks for reporting this, Paul!

Does the Reporting page have your name on it? Are Past Reports yours? Does Held Mail use your account? Has anyone contacted Don or the Deputies? turetzsr
<snip>Does the Reporting page have your name on it?...Yes, mine does. Are Past Reports yours?...From my limited ability to recall, yes.Does Held Mail use your account?...Isn't Held Mail a SpamCop e-mail thing? I don't have SpamCop e-mail; I have a free reporting account only.Has anyone contacted Don or the Deputies?...As I wrote, above, I submitted a "complaint" via the "Contact SpamCop" feedback form which, if I recall correctly, is TPTB preferred means to contact TPTB. Wazoo
Has anyone contacted Don or the Deputies? I sent e-mail to both, pointing to this Topic, Subject Line: Possible (MAILHOST) database corruption ???
StevenUnderwood
Isn't Held Mail a SpamCop e-mail thing? I don't have SpamCop e-mail; I have a free reporting account only Yes. I was just going through the different tabs, trying to think of anything that would be account specific to try and narrow down where the corruption might be. DavidT
Hold the phone....I think what's being discussed here is a "feature" and not a "bug." For any given mail host, only information relating to one SC user gets displayed, and if you share mail hosts with another SC user, you'll wind up seeing whatever they gave it as a "Mailhost Name" rather than what *you* would like to name it. Let's all take a good look through the following topic from April 2004: Naming Mail Hosts, about the MailHost names I suspect that might be related to what's been reported in this current topic. turetzsr
I suspect that might be related to what's been reported in this current topic.Hi, DT, ...That was my first thought, too. However, I don't believe the Edit mailhost configuration" screen should show someone else's e-mail address at the top of the page. Also, none of the IP addresses in the drop-down list labeled "Relaying IPs" is recognizable to me.
DavidT
I don't believe the Edit mailhost configuration" screen should show someone else's e-mail address at the top of the page. "Top of the page"? My "Mailhosts" page doesn't have an email address at the top. It's comprised of grouped info about each of my eleven registered mailhosts, like this: Mailhost name: First host Email address: me[at]somewhere.com Hosts/Domains: somewhere.com Relaying IPs: 11.22.33.44 Mailhost name: Second host Email address: me[at]somewhereelse.com Hosts/Domains: somewhereelse.com Relaying IPs: 55.66.77.88 etc. But if you've only got one host, maybe you're talking about the second line of the single host's info? Also, none of the IP addresses in the drop-down list labeled "Relaying IPs" is recognizable to me. OK, that does sound suspicious. Maybe the database is indeed scrambled, but I thought I should bring up the concept that the naming of hosts is not necessarily as one would expect. turetzsr
But if you've only got one host, maybe you're talking about the second line of the single host's info? ...Yes, DT, you are correct -- I have one host and it's the second line of its info to which I was referring. Sorry for the confusion. For future reference, if I refer to "the top of the page," I do not (necessarily) mean right at the very top of the page, but rather somewhere close to the top. SpamCopAdmin
When paul.hunt registered his email address with the Mailhost system, the configuration test message was returned to turetzsr's account where it took hold as if the host actually belonged to turetzsr. I don't know how that happened. Our engineer has looked at things and he doesn't know, either. I moved the host from turetzsr's account to paul.hunt's account where it belongs and notified the users by email. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin -
