Have my video turned off all times, in settings, no need for it, just use the picture you see now on Skype voice with mates been getting this word off and on word for word for years. Copy the text and do a google search it's a boilerplate threat sent to thousands as well as spamtrap email addresses I also WIN10 scan for spyware had not heard from it for months This is a very good freeware program can't recommend paying for it, they slapped me a monthly fee for some rubbish I never wanted, but stopped after I complained SUPERAntiSpyware better than Malwarebytes IMO but full check takes 3 hours on my dated WIN10 You must close all browsers for a scan, then, well I go shopping or watch a movie and or both. https://www.superantispyware.com Edited September 30 by petzl

Don't have to I've informed Uruguay authorities they will easily find out who and where address is of whoever shut their international crime cartel IP down. Not a safe thing for one to do! Probably a kid getting his jollies, but these people are not known to be nice or forgiving! Edited September 30 by petzl
ninth
With the sextortion scam and all the variations on extracting OPM there's a new money maker emerging for when details need to be given out online including email and phone number masking and even a whole new ID using fake alternatives that can be deleted and regenerated if compromised. The services cost a small yearly fee and If the email comes from another source it must be spam. Edited October 2 by ninth add

With botnets one does not need a email account, their own PC can do this Being old and doddery I just shrug it off, But school children young adults cannot. a lot suicide because of this! It needs to be taken more seriously by governments allowing Botnets to continue running. As usual have a good virus detection Windows defender is good but do not recolonise PUP's as the malware they are/ SUPERAntiSpyware better than Malwarebytes IMO use freeware version but full check takes 3 hours on my dated WIN10 You must close all browsers for a scan, then, well I go shopping or watch a movie and or both. https://www.superantispyware.com Edited October 2 by petzl
AmyLynn
ROFL way to push the paranoia. You don't need extremes, you need to use common sense. Trend micro works perfectly fine with common sense and simple logic. Don't let someone push "EXTREME" crap down anyone's throat. Just report and delete spam like everyone else. You don't have to read it. Anyone can tell by the subject line and the TO line. Gesh! This isn't 3rd grade!

AmyLynn
Scams and spam are not the same thing. Use google someday, you might learn something.

The sextortion scam apparently is just an empty threat and there is no video but banks report they get plenty of victims sending the thousand dollars to a decentralized anonymous banking system and a law unto themselves. I had a looksee at superware but not free - $20 min - Windows version is free. Surfshark is on to a good thing...imagine if we all paid up to play avatar how would the spammer/scammer scum find us except on old databases that would be quickly corrupted with fake data. There's only so much we can tweak IDs and keep it legal, but with the shark I am technically still when dealing with strangers or unknown companies in cyberspace. The spammers/scammers are doing this to us? I couldn't agree with you more the root of the problem with receiving sales and marketing etc without consent is the increasing use of bots. Over 700g active bots last 24hrs and number one worst botnet country by far the US then china india brazil UK egypt italy vietnam russia and indonesia. AI means we have automated ourselves out of jobs and now our time and privacy. Edited October 3 by ninth sp
