aaronlawrence Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hi all, Today I've been sending some mails through webmail. I noticed that some of them are saved to sent-mail and some are not. The ones that don't are replies to "Glenn Knight". Other replies and original mails are saved OK. This is a bit alarming as I rely on that sent-mail to provide a record. My account is aaronlawrence (at) spamcop [dot] net Thanks.
Spamnophobic Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Have you ticked the 'Save a copy in "sent-mail"' box, just above the Text field to the left? Penny
Wazoo Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Today I've been sending some mails through webmail. I noticed that some of them are saved to sent-mail and some are not. The ones that don't are replies to "Glenn Knight". Little context, no real details .. hard to go from here with what was offered from this side of the screen. Other replies and original mails are saved OK. And again, hard to 'see' much of anything from 'here' ... if you want to pick one 'target' for your issue, what have you looked at to troubleshoot the issue? Something / anything 'different' in the headers for instance? This is a bit alarming as I rely on that sent-mail to provide a record. The suggestion there then would be to use "your" system to compose / send the e-mail, such that your records would be under your control ... My account is aaronlawrence (at) spamcop [dot] net As denoted in the data provided at the top of each "Topic/Forum section" screen .... This is a User to User Support Forum .. on the other hand, folks in the past have PM'd me their e-mail account details, such that some troubelshooting could be done on their behalf .... (though noting that in all but one case, I ran into the "cannot duplicate the problem from my end" scenario ...) If you want to contact JT directly, data is available in numerous FAQs, Announcements, and previous discussins. Of course, it must be noted that a lot more (specfic) data will actually need to be provided. Software in use Tine of attempted e-mail Troubleshooting results (i.e. send the next "Glenn Knight" attempt with a CC: to another og 'your' addresses to see of it actually goes out) Your ISP may factor into it Just a few of the things that might be involved ....
Wazoo Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Yet another one of those oddities that may or may not apply .... I recall that setting up an account via Apple Mail on an iBook, there was the 'interesting' issue in that the locally generated folder was named "Sent Messages" as compared to the offered Horde/IMP "sent-mail" folder that OE picked right up on ... Point is that the outgoing e-mail was/is saved, just in a different folder ... though additionally pointing out that this is via an IMAP connection on OE, SMTP/POP via the iBook .. but both 'sent' folders get updated on the local systems .... in fact, I have run into some oddities with OE, hit send, but the e-mail remains 'open' on my screen ... However. sliding down to the sent-mail folder, I see that the e-mail is in fact sitting in that folder .. test e-mails to myself (and others) shows that the e-mail did in fact go out .. leaving the 'problem' as being something to do with OE's handling of the outgoing handshakes involved .... basically, your problem in reverse ....
StevenUnderwood Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Today I've been sending some mails through webmail. I noticed that some of them are saved to sent-mail and some are not. The ones that don't are replies to "Glenn Knight". Other replies and original mails are saved OK. One clue might be that if you have "identities" setup that saving sent messages is configurable for each identity. It might be that "Glenn Knight" sent the message to an identity that is not setup to save sent messages? When you reply to a message sent to ne of the configured identities, it replies as that identity by defauly, otherwise it uses the default identity. Hope this helps get the conversation in the right direction.
