can't forward messages

Recommended Posts

New to forum:

When I forward message by clicking send, it appears like the message is sent. I check save a copy but nothing shows in sent folder. Check with person I FW: to and they haven't received it. I have been using SC for about 3 years This problem has started about the beginning of July Using XP HE

You posted this to;

How to use .... Instructions, Tutorials

System parts & Functions not fully explained under an existing Help menu / option .... Questions still needed to be asked about How to use/do something are to be posted into that function's Forum section.

SpamCop Forum

Functions and settings of this application, at this location

But I don't see anything in your post that deals with How to use ... this Forum ..

I am making a wild assumption that it appears that you are possibly talking about a SpamCop.net e-mail account, so with this post, moving this to the SpamCop Email System & Accounts Forum section.

Nothing like this has been reported in the newsgroups or in this Forum, so thus far, only you are having this issue. As it happens, I just Fowarded an e-mail myself with no issues.

In the past, folks have PM'd me their logon details so I could check their account, but I have to tell you that only once have I been able to duplicate the user's issue .... the other multiple dozens of times I've done this, everything worked for me ....????

Curious about why a whole month has gone by before asking about the problem ...???

I very seldom Forward nessages: I didn't realize that the messages were not received.

I tried forwarding one to myself and it worked. I will have to watch this closely.

I didn't know about this forum. Now that I do,I won't post in NG

Thanks for your help.

triplec,

I went over to the newsgroup and posted some responses, both to you and to someone else over there who was posting misinformation. Here they are:

Be careful of terminology...I think that's leading to some confusion, and please be more specific about what interface you're using to do this. It appears that you're talking about the webmail interface to a SpamCop email account. However, are you composing new messages or are you actually using another of the functions, such as Reply, Forward, or Redirect? Saying "messages from INBOX are not forwarded" leaves us wondering a bit...the literal interpretation would be that you're trying to use the "Forward" function on messages you're accessing in the SC webmail INBOX. Is that true?

I'll explain in another followup why things might not show up in your "sent-mail" folder.

Yes, there's such a folder, but no, it's *not* always empty. In order for items to be put into "sent-mail," you'd have to go into your "Personal Information" Options, and use the "Edit your identities" function (which is very useful, because you can then send mail from identities/addresses other than your SpamCop address), and select a value at the very bottom of each identity screen for "Sent mail folder." I think it might default to "None," so if you simply change that to "Use Default Value," then you will have the option of having a copy of each item that you compose or forwarded there, depending on whether or not the Save a copy in "sent-mail" box is ticked in your compose or forward window. My wife currently has over 300 such items in her sent-mail...I have six (including two tests I just performed), and yet you'll not have any if you've not availed yourself of the full array of options. This is simply a configuration issue.

Another config option. I have no such folders, because in the "Maintenance Options," I haven't selected "Rename sent-mail folder at beginning of month?" There are other useful options there as well.

p.s. - I see that you're presently reading the SpamCop Forum FAQ....good choice. :-)
