ZapZombie Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 For instance, "No reporting addresses found for 89.47.3.126", while Win32Whois queried abuse.net and found support[at]teentelecom.net and viorel[at]teentelecom.net. I do remember some parse reports where abuse.net was succesfully queried. Why is abuse.net not à llways queried, when a ripe etc whois fails?
SpamCopAdmin Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 No reporting addresses found for 89.47.3.126, using devnull for tracking. That's the key. SpamCop only consults with Abuse.net when it gets a reporting address from Whois lookup. - Don D'Minion - SpamCop Admin - - Service[at]Admin.SpamCop.net -
petzl Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 For instance, "No reporting addresses found for 89.47.3.126", while Win32Whois queried abuse.net and found support[at]teentelecom.net and viorel[at]teentelecom.net. I do remember some parse reports where abuse.net was succesfully queried. Why is abuse.net not à llways queried, when a ripe etc whois fails? SpamCop caches entries to avoid DOS attacking abuse.net but can be refreshed by you There is no abuse address available For email servers you can try postmaster[at][89.47.3.126] This server is listed by SpamCop BL and CBL http://cbl.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=89.47.3.126 You can get a free windows app which lists what email addresses there are http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/ipnetinfo.html The idea is if you have the time to get better than SpamCop, which "errs on the side of error" to not send
ZapZombie Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 .. There is no abuse address available .. I get confused here. Are you telling me that the two emailadresses that Win32Whois found at abuse.net, support[at]teentelecom.net and viorel[at]teentelecom.net are wrong?
petzl Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I get confused here. Are you telling me that the two emailadresses that Win32Whois found at abuse.net, support[at]teentelecom.net and viorel[at]teentelecom.net are wrong? I'm just saying SpamCop's software could not find one. Neither could mine Yours can As SpamCop is a "Bot" if one has time you can actually get better than SpamCop if you wish to. I use VER and often check entries These low life spammers Brazil of course where the worst are http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z5434388439zf...5609e082008b07z They have "unsubscribe links" which just confirm email address which they pass on to other Brazil spammers (probably same spammer under alias) Anyhow abuse address given is the spam friendly abuse[at]ovh.net With http://www.gena01.com/win32whois It gives a couple more
ZapZombie Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 In that case, I recommend gena01.com/win32whois to windows users, for finding contact addresses when the spamcop parser doesn't find one. For me, it found most of them. I pasted the found addresses, separated by a space, in the "User Notification" address field in the "Report spam to:" section of the spamcop parse report.
