antispam001 Posted February 6, 2014 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Our e-mail appliances (McAfee) are setup with bl.spamcop.net for RBL blocking. Works great! But the appliances have got an internal health check, with periodically performs checks on the RBL service. 2 checks are performed: - Check if DNS "NS" records are available for the zone "bl.spamcop.net" - Check if DNS "A" record 127.0.0.2 is available in the zone "bl.spamcop.net" The results are shown below: ------------------------ Appliance -> DNS Standard query NS bl.spamcop.net DNS -> Appliance Standard query Response Server failure Appliance -> DNS Standard query A 2.0.0.127.bl.spamcop.net DNS -> Appliance Standard query Response A 127.0.0.2 A DIG from the appliance gives the following result: dig bl.spamcop.net ns ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 44086 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ------------------------ For al other RBL's these checks are working ok (zen.spamhaus.org / cird.bl.mcafee.com) Question: Why are there no NS records implemented for "bl.spamcop.net"?
