Gromit Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Between two email accounts, I've gotten the following type email about 30 times over the past week or so: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z732445919z06...3c3131e8dd7fd5z Is it just me who can't read it, or is the SPAMmer wasting his own bandwidth?
swingspacers Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 It is base64 encoded. Some email programs automagically decode base64, which means that some people will see the content, so the spammer is not totally wasting his time. More info about base64 from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base64 If you know what you are doing, you can follow the instructions for base64 here: http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/283.html If you are interested, you might also want to search this forum for "base64" for a lot more information about this issue.
Gromit Posted February 15, 2005 Author Posted February 15, 2005 Thanks for the reply. Bummer, though, I liked the idea of them wasting their time...
voyager58 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I get those all the time. It is spammers "selling pirated software".
