PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - An Internet pharmacy based in India that sold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of drugs without prescriptions has been indicted by U.S. authorities, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday.

"There was no physician, no pharmacist and no quality control of these drugs that were sold at above-market rates," Patrick Meehan, U.S. attorney for Eastern Pennsylvania, told a news conference.

Internet users are inundated by e-mail offers of painkillers like codeine and sexual-enhancing drugs like Viagra, which require prescriptions.
