Report As Spam?

From time to time I get e-mails from ISP's and Addresses that don't seem to exist, the messages make no sense whatsoever and the TO: address is not mine but some concoction.

Any clues as to what this is and what should I do about it. It seems the more I report them, the more I get.

They don't seem to have any real purpose but to be clutter.

Many Thanks

...There's a number of things they could be, for example, probes to see if your e-mail address is active (and so it is worth continuing to send spam to you) or spam hidden within an image that you either can't easily see or has been removed for you by your internet or e-mail provider.

...My suggestion would be to continue to report as many as you have the time and inclination to report.
